I'm curious, why no Dark Confidant ?

Money, and going for a bit of a different approach with a BUG Delver for modern as i play RUG Delver in Legacy. I had most of the cards for the Legacy deck already.

Ahhh, then the next question is do you find Courser worth it without Goyf?

Probably cuz goif is like 250+

Yes, Courser makes Fetches free so that is much nicer, and shocks only ping for 1 now. Getting one suited up with a sword is pretty nice as well.

Yeah, Courser with a sword seems good lol. I keep only having one question at as I look at your deck each time you answer, but one more I promise. Have your considered any number of utility lands? Specifically Creeping Tar Pit or Tectonic Edge ?

I had the tar pits in to start, I may bring them back in, and a tec edge or two might come in from the board vs control matchups, but the mana constraints are very tight in the deck and a double tec fetch hand can hurt really bad

I don't mind the questions either, they allow me to think about the options and provide reasoning for the selections that I have made.

Well besides your 3 drops and Abrupt Decay everything is a "splash", so it might be worth it to fit one or 2 of either land in.

And now taking a look at the SB, is that simply for your meta? Because you have some odd choices for cards like Melira and Tajuru Preserver .

My board isn't updated yet, lol my actual board looks a bit different from what is posted.

I like it! You could just replace the Dryad Militant with Relic of Progenitus , they're dirt cheap and easier to find. Or Scavenging Ooze , as a more proactive form of graveyard hate, even though it does kind of demand a lot of mana to keep an entire graveyard full, but can pretty effortlessly keep all the important cards clear. How has Doom Blade been for you?

Surprisingly effective, effectively stops an Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite

I also have the Leyline of the Void as a replacement for the two Dryad Militant , I just haven't really decided what to make the last one as of yet.

Ah, okay =) You play against Elesh Norn a lot? Is the deck with it on Tappedout? I've never seen a modern deck with Elesh Norn, I would like to, haha.

My concern was basically Dark Confidant dodging it, but I'm not sure what you would want to play in that spot, Go for the Throat is equally sketchy in modern. Speaking of Affinity, have you thought about making one of the Hurkyl's Recalls into Drown in Sorrow ? I've tested that card against them, it usually ends the game, and because of the amount of 0 costing creatures they play I find Hurkyl's Recall to be more of a stop-gap fix than a way to beat them. It also gets rid of an Etched Champion . It also has applications against other aggro decks too, and decks like BW tokens and Soul Sisters if you can hit it fast enough.

Bob isn't terribly prevalent in my meta right now. The deck with Elesh Norn is a 4c Gifts Ungiven deck, which are everywhere in my meta. My only problem with drown is that if they have an Arcbound they just sac everything to that instead. I know Creeping Corrosion usually just wins the game against affinity so I may add one to the board here shortly.

alpinefroggy what is your question about Creeping Corrosion ?

June 9, 2014 8:48 p.m.

alpinefroggy says... #20

why hurkl's recal and not it?

recall is tempo based and this is presumably a control deck, so why not a card that can control better.

I currently have recall, I'm working on getting a pair of Corrosions

Why is it named snapgoyf with no goyf?

I've just been too lazy to change the name from when I originally developed the deck

Instead of Doom Blade , have you thought of Dismember or Smother ?
