Personally, I love Magus of the Moat, but I don't know what I'd replace with it.

You may want to have some Detention Sphere's for mass removal.
February 26, 2017 6:51 p.m.
Hey all, thanks for the feedback!
Snap157: I tried running Geist of Saint Traft for a bit and found that he was far too easily murdered by a favorable blocks, only getting in once with the angel. And sadly Warden of Evos Isle is just a touch too slow. If it was a spirit therefor I could flash it in that'd be amazing, but as it sits my average CMC is 1.92, which is pretty low to the ground.
bobtoll: Great card, but a little too high on the curve... perhaps a sideboard card for aggro matchups?
cabbagemaster: 1. Great name. 2. I had two Detention Spheres in the sideboard for a while, but just recently traded them out for Supreme Verdict... Do you think I should make room for them in the side board again? What would you recommend taking out?
February 26, 2017 8:34 p.m.
First off, I have no idea what I would replace in the sideboard. Secondly, I think I would keep the Supreme Verdicts in the sideboard.

bobtoll: I removed one land so I could move my 4th path onto mainboard, cut one leak on the sideboard, and then added two d-spheres. What do you think? Too few lands now?
February 27, 2017 5:02 p.m.
No, I think that should be fine for now. I'll do some playtesting with it (I've been playtesting my modern deck for fun, so now I've got another deck to go against it), and I'll let you know what I found out.

Maybe replace 1 or 2 Mana Leaks with Magus of the Moat, but no more than that.
February 27, 2017 8:43 p.m.
The reason for the mana leaks is for combo decks that really rely heavily on one card, such as re-animator decks. Being able to counter a Goryo's Vengeance feels pretty good when they are going all in on the glass cannon. I don't think I will need Magus of the Moat as my deck runs pretty fast and can be comparable to other agro decks with the plus of everything flying.
February 27, 2017 11:19 p.m.
Have you considered Surgical Extraction in the sideboard? That could help remove Griselbrand in the matchup stated above, among other things.
Spell Pierce or Mana Tithe could be some cards to look at for your control.
Also, gonna support the above post - a sided in Magus of the Moat would stop many aggro decks in their tracks.
Looks like a fun deck! Good luck with your championships!
February 28, 2017 2:55 a.m.
Thanks for the feedback! After this tourney I will have a much better understanding of what needs to happen in the sideboard... Extraction is pretty super, we will see. Presently I have Rest in Peace to deal with that deck... but i suppose extraction also works well with skittles decks, killing off all of their Kiln Fiends. Hmm....
As for Magus of the Moat, here is my thoughts on it... four mana is really steep to slow down agro.. but also, four mana that doesn't synergies with any of the other things in the deck (Cavern of Souls for uncounterable, Drogskol Captain and Favorable Winds for anthems) and doesn't even survive the bolt test seems even worse. If there was a way to get him out of bolt range I would be much more down with committing a slot to him... I just am not convinced it is that great.
February 28, 2017 4:30 a.m.
Well, it's your deck, do whatever you want with it. Now that you point that out, it does make since. Also, I would consider Grafdigger's Cage over Rest in Peace.

You also might run Niblis of Frost (probably in the sideboard), because it can get pretty controlly, especially post-sideboarding,

ive been playing almost this exact list,
but with Bitterblossom instead of favorable winds,
which honestly i recommend with the prides
good luck! post your results and let us know how it goes

I think 1 or even 2 Phantasmal Images could do a lot for you here.
February 28, 2017 5:04 p.m.
frostdiggity: Here are my thoughts on Phantasmal Image. I really like the card and in either a Collected Company deck or an Aether Vial deck because of the ability to play them at instant speed. I run two in my faerie deck, and I find that often they don't quite play how I want them to. The issue I have is that, with both faeiries and spirits, their strengths are in their flash ability, and not being able to do things on the opponents turn feels bad... It is a good card, but not sure it does what I want it to do.

This deck rocks, +1!
I have no real recommendations at all (you've justified your choices well). But I'd probably swap out Mana Leak for Rune Snag (the latter costs your opponent more as the game, and therefore their mana-base, progresses), and Detention Sphere for Echoing Truth (I realize it doesn't have the same permanency but it is quicker and can remove problematic tokens (especially) a turn earlier.

Training Grounds? I am not sure if that works with creatures in your hand. I like Favorable Winds.
March 2, 2017 2:34 a.m.
Training Grounds wouldn't work on creatures in your hand.

wolfging - I totally understand where you're coming from. I just saw it as another Drogskol Captain.

I think that a couple of Ghostly Prison to sideboard would be invaluable in aggro matchups.

Looks good! Personally I prefer Mana leak over Remand, even thought the card draw is quite nice. Have you considered either Warden of Evos Isle or Geist of Saint Traft? Unfortunaly I don't know what I would cut in this situation.
