The Worst Combo Deck Ever Made

Oathbreaker WU (Azorius)

pizzanui

Guess it's about time I took off the "prototype" tag from this deck, eh? It's not good. This is a meme deck designed for play only in my little playgroup, which is fairly low-power compared to most other oathbreaker groups I've played against.

The one and only wincon is Barren Glory. That's right. In order to win, you need T3feri on board, Barren Glory under an Oblivion Ring (or similar effect), and enough mana to cast Worldpurge. To win with Barren Glory, you need to begin your turn with no permanents (including lands) on your side of the battlefield as well as a hand of exactly zero cards. When Worldpurge resolves, all permanents including lands get returned to their owners' hands. When the Oblivion Ring leaves the battlefield, it returns the Barren Glory that was under it to the battlefield under your control. Then you can choose up to seven cards in your hand to keep, and shuffle the rest away. The operative word there is "up to" seven. The number of cards you choose to keep is zero, shuffling away your entire hand and leaving you with no cards in hand and no permanents on board except for the card that was once under your Oblivion Ring. With Teferi, Time Raveler as your Oathbreaker, you can use the plus ability to let you cast Worldpurge on the end step of the player immediately before you in the turn order, thus giving the table pretty much no chance to respond to the combo due to the tiny window (and T3feri's obnoxious passive effect).

Just to re-iterate, though, this deck is bad. Like, it relies entirely on your opponents to simply not interact with you at all while you slowly durdle away and fish for your combo. That said, the combo is pretty difficult to interact with, and is one of the funnier alternate win-cons just because of how obnoxiously difficult it is to set up. If Barren Glory gets exiled, though, that's basically just GG. The only way to win at that point is to re-start the game with the ultimate from Karn Liberated, allowing you to shuffle your exile zone back into your deck and try again. Beyond that, you're kinda just boned. Enjoy!
