That's always an issue with this general, but I have 2 ways to combat it. One is the reanimate mechanic, since all I need is one Resurrection in my hand to cheat in a much larger creature after wiping the board. The other are cards like Mind's Eye, Mindless Automaton, and Gift of Estates can end up doing some work as well. Most of the time I find that once I get a board presence I tend to hold on to many of my larger creatures rather than getting them down on the battlefield.

If you're going for white cards that don't do white things, Martyr's Cry has some big strange card draw.

If I was running a token deck or something that had a bunch of white creatures in it, you'd be damn sure I'd have that one in. Cards like that are seriously fun to throw out there. Played Mudslide in my mono red to many people's frustration...after they read the card of course. Off color cards are the best.

Haha, that's amazing. What other off color cards do you know of? Do you keep a list? Have you seen Dosan of the Green Rainbow?

I love it. That's the exact mentality behind my mono green The Cheating Green Monster. It's a direct damage creature cheat deck. Haven't gotten all the cards for it yet, but I'm hoping it's just as odd as this mono white and my red/white control deck that counters spells enough that my playgroup asks me if I'm cool with them casting spells like I'm some kind of blue player. My personal favorite is Mana Tithe, so any time I get to play that is a good day. I'm also a fan of cards like Darkness, Whippoorwill, Seedtime, and Bind. Really anything that can throw a player off is great. I've gotten people out of nowhere with a well timed Martyrdom on a Boros Reckoner.

Thanks for the upvotes, and this deck has finally reached a solid point. Good mix of recursion, land destruction, and overall damage dealing. If left to its own devices for any length of time, this deck gets pretty nasty. RIP Preacher, you just weren't consistent enough. If only you had a bit more going for you.

WOW, this is awesome! Great brew! I have a Mageta deck also and working out some kinks myself. You've taken it in a bit of a different direction with all the high powered angels, but I was thinking similarly regarding the recursion. I figured loading the hand with white's handful of land-search spells would work pretty well. I have not been able to play test it too often yet. What do you think of Archaeomancer's Map.

McToters that's a good one. You can also get good value out of Planar Birth if you do any land destruction or use lands as a main discard mechanic for Mageta.
Personally I do find that the "when opponent has more lands than you" mechanics can be dead abilities in the later game. It all depends on your playgroup though. I have one friend who always ramps like crazy, so I get a lot of value from those abilities.

freezerboy I LOVE that Planar Birth rec... thanks!

Agreed--and it's why I've been including cards like Settle the Wreckage and Winds of Abandon which helps all opponents get lands, and if I'm toying with lands anyway that depend on other's land count it seems to have synergy--again need more play attempts to know how well it will play.
If you have the time--I'd love it if you could apply some more feedback on my own Mageta deck. No worries if ya can't! Cheers

The biggest problem I find in my Mageta deck is having to discard faster than I can draw. How's your card draw?
