This is too slow for modern, isn't it? Also, with your curve, I'd bump it up to 24-25 lands.

at the moment yeah, its slowed down quite a lot. it was functioning like a well oiled machine before i added more 3 drops. i think i will try add more copies of the main creatures i need and take some of the random ones out. it's hard to know which minotaurs to include.

good idea with lands, i will play around with the curve a bit more to try and make it functional.

might take out the rakdos guildgate as well, it seems to slow me down.

Definitely pull out the gates. I'd recommend going with shocks or check lands Dragonskull Summit . You probably should include some card draw Phyrexian Arena Read the Bones and some removal Lightning Bolt Anger of the Gods .

cool, Dragonskull Summit looks great, i will chase a few copies down. Draw cards are a good idea too cheers. Does Phyrexian Arena count as an extra draw each turn?

I was thinking about putting some Door of Destinies in the deck, it's expensive at a 4 colourless, but seeing as all the cards are minotaurs it would be a great buff.

Check out Rollick of Abandon as a possible bomb here. It can take out chump blockers and would pair great with Rageblood Shaman

Whenever you get the chance, definitely upgrade to Lightning Bolt s. I know the one mana doesn't seem like much, but it's amazing how much it matters in a ton of situations. 4 Door of Destinies seems a bit much to me, but I can't say I've had any experience with that. Overall I think your curve looks much nicer now.

Out of curiosity, how has Flurry of Horns been working for you? I still can't decide if it's a good or a bad card.

ProStein1011 i had some originally in the deck but at 5 cost its expensive so i think the other buffs sorta make it less needed. plus the Lightning Strike s fit the theme better with my Boros Reckoner s :)

Murtagg cheers, i think i will upgrade to Lightning Bolt s some time soon. After a few games i agree, one mana definitely makes the difference. it'll be worth it, i won't be so cheap next time haha.

i played a few test games just pretending the Lightning Strike s were Lightning Bolt s and it was much better.

4 Door of Destinies does seem excessive but i wanted to try and guarantee playing it early in the game so i wanted the draw rate as high as possible. when you do play it early on, the opponent usually cant catch up in time and it's all over before i draw a second. (also i think in the event i do play a second one, the effect stacks?)

Regarding Flurry of Horns i really like it, mainly because the Minotaur tokens get buffed as well so at 5 cost, alot of the time there is other buffers out already and you get to play out 2 4/5's or higher with haste (and often trample). it's often been that little bit extra i need to finish the game that turn.

main negative point for me is that the tokens don't count towards the charge counters on Door of Destinies

Fair enough. $10 for a playset isn't always a great bet when playtesting, so I'm glad you didn't drop money unnecessarily.

The doors would stack, as they are different objects. That's a good point about the tempo, but at 4cmc can you really get it out quickly enough? You have to drop the Door then cast other minotaurs in order to start growing it. It seems slow. Since you're considering this Modern, have you thought about Coat of Arms ? It's a 5cmc, but it effects the board immediately upon entering. Instead of building up your advantage at around +1/+1 per turn, your minotaurs automatically get ~+5/+5 on turn 5. Plus, Coat of Arms works with Flurry of Horns .

Coat of Arms looks awesome. good suggestion!

you're right i think it would go much better in there but for now its ~$36 a set so i will keep the doors for a while and see how they go. In games with my mates its been pretty good but i'm not sure how ill go up at FNM yet. if its a definite problem i will get them.

i'll try and make note of the games i play tonight if i can make it to FNM and post an update on how it plays.

actually, nevermind lol. i cant help myself. i'm going to get 2 copies and try it with 2 Door of Destinies and 2 Coat of Arms . that should cover me for now.

i am going to run a few games with Rollick of Abandon in place of Door of Destinies to see how it plays. it's a small buff compared to some of the artifacts i have seen (plus its costly to cast) but i think it might be handy in the late game for a lot of situations. helps take out small blockers etc plus give everything an extra +2 to swing for big enough damage to end the game.

if this isn't sufficient then i will chase down some Coat of Arms or something else.

Temple of Malice would be a great addition to the mana base. The consistentcy it would provide is huge for any deck.

khravefan52 thanks for the suggestion, that's a really good idea. nothing annoys me more than only having one colour mana on the field.

what other B/R dual lands are there for standard?

Dracoson says... #16

Blood Crypt is a better dual land for you. It can be ready the turn you drop it so it won't slow you down a turn early on.

Perfect, and the fact it doesn't have to come out tapped is a big difference, cheers.
