Updated version from original; main change was dropping the splash of blue
+1/+1 is the name of the game, and the more counters the merrier. I built this deck for fun after pulling a lot of Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig's in Arena and decided to build a deck around counters given the other cards I had collected. So let's get down to breaking it down.
+1/+1 Related:
Pelt Collector is a must in this deck, since it keeps growing on its own as the game progresses, and although Incubation Druid doesn't necessarily help in terms of counters it does give quite a bit of mana that could be used to cast Voracious Hydra which comes out with counters and has some advantageous effects. Knight of Autumn works as a great modul card in that it can act as a form of removal, gain some life, or come out with some counters. Heliod, Sun-Crowned's passive effect will see a good amount of use, and can potentially be a great threat to have on the board. The last creature in this deck is Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig, coming out with 4 +1/+1 counters and grows each time a bigger creature or green creature enters. Noncreature cards that help with counters are Hydra's Growth, doubling every turn, and The Great Henge adding counters, gain 2 life, and extra mana. Pledge of Unity serves to supplement in both aspects of this deck.
Banishing Light is added in the deck to provide some removal, as Vivien, Arkbow Ranger can add some counters, a form of removal, and extra threats in to the game. Ajani, the Greathearted can give more life, and add counters across the board, as well as using Ajani, Strength of the Pride to gain life and get Ajani Pridemate tokens that are sure to gain a good amount of counters. The ultimate for this Ajani can also be used as a one-sided board wipe in sticky situations.
This deck started off at 65, forcing me to make some tough decisions as to what to omit and what to move over to the sideboard; even with the slight changes, I can't help but feel like this deck is missing something, or could run smoother and more efficiently. I am very open to any suggestions you guys may have in making this deck run smoother and more competitive, and I could always use help with the sideboard! Thanks for checking out my build and reading the description!
