The focus of this deck is really simple: start with a good-ish ramp, while building up slowly board presence. Then trying to get 4-6 counters on Meren: from there everything's easier. The aim of the deck is either consistently drawing (and thus discarding things to later "dig out" from the graveyard), or to lock down opponents by making them sacrifice creatures. From there on, the win condition is either:

• Being able to build board and card advantage and then, slowly, eventually kill everybody;
• Dropping the HDAMBZ (Heavy Duty Avenger of My Beloved Zendikar, aka Avenger of Zendikar), wich generally floods the board (and can be sacrificed and recursed to flood even more). If it's still not enough, just add Overwhelming Stampede to the mix;
• Using again and again Black Smoke Shenron's... ehm, I meant... Kokusho, the Evening Star's death trigger to eventually drain the soul out of our opponents. The process can be doubled up in speed by adding Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord as a sacrifice outlet;
• Dropping recursively too many big creatures (not so easy to do though, since at that point you usually have been priority nr. 1 for the last 4 turns);
• Having your opponents swearing at you cos' "You are a bad person" and then leaving the table because you locked down the board so much that even you can't do anything about it. (Can happen :/ );

But wait wait wait. Meren's not unstoppable. You'll get slowed or even stomped if you either:

• Get forced to shuffle key cards back into in your library (Chaos Warp, Terminus, ...);
• Get forced to reshuffle your graveyard into your library (Time Reversal, Day's Undoing, ...);
• Get your graveyard exiled by something like a Nihil Spellbomb, or even worse, completely negated, by something like Rest in Peace or Leyline of the Void;
• Have no access to Meren of Clan Nel Toth, or other recursion engines;

In the Sideboard I put all the cards that used to be in the deck before updates, thus I own all the cards in there. One the other hand, I do not own the cards in the Maybeboard, even though I'd like to test them if they weren't so expensive / did know what to swap them with.
