We've got another budget deck incoming! This time, we're going Golgari. Normally, when things go to the graveyard players become distressed, wishing that those cards could somehow be of use. Well fear not! The graveyard is just another resource for us to abuse, you just have to grab a shovel and start digging! .....Uhmm...let's go ahead and see the cards before the police come knocking on my door...
Lotleth Troll: Definitely an MVP, no matter how you look at it. The discard outlet gets our graveyard engine running fast, while giving us a serious threat for the opponent to deal with. The super cheap regenerate is very relevant with all the removal flying around right now, this guy just laughs most of it off, while eating random bits of flesh without a care in the world.
Slitherhead: A cheap chump blocker if you need it, otherwise it's just yummy graveyard fodder, and a discard outlet for Lotleth Troll.
Dreg Mangler: Another strong creature that deserves to be a 4 of. Swing in for 3 the turn you play him, or just discard him to Lotleth Troll to get some tasty scavenge for later use. And, he mangles dregs, whatever that means.
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord: Shines in the late game. Sacrifice a monstrous Nemesis of Mortals for an easy 10 damage, or just have him do your dirty work, since he can get absolutely massive here. Once you have stabilized on lands, you can bring him back by sacrificing a swamp and a forest. It actually can make an interesting trick play with Lotleth Troll, discard him, then sac lands to get him back to discard again, but that's obviously an all in strategy. It's good to keep in mind though. I only wish the lich lord could sacrifice himself, but that might be a bit too much to ask for.
Nemesis of Mortals: An easy pick here, can get up to 10/10 for as little as 4 green mana in the right situation. Usually we can end up casting him for about 3-4 mana in most situations.
Nighthowler: While not so great early on, this guy will DOMINATE late game. Notice that the text says all graveyards, so you benefit from your opponent's creatures as well.
Nylea's Emissary: The deck had big creatures but few ways of punching through with them, so this aims to remedy that. You can bestow this onto Nemesis of Mortals or Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord for devastation, or put a Nighthowler onto the emissary as a creature, whatever works.
Pharika's Mender: While underwhelming in P/T, it does offer a bit of recursion to fetch whatever we need at the time, while still being a creature when stuck in the graveyard. It works decently, but we don't want to see it a lot so two is enough. I prefer it to Treasured Find personally.
Rot Farm Skeleton: Although it can't block, the recursion is extremely annoying for your opponent (especially against control), and throwing 4 more cards into the graveyard is exactly what this deck wants. Don't even bother casting it from your hand if you can help it, throw it into the graveyard the first chance you get.
Putrefy: This fills the void that Murder left behind for us budget builders quite nicely, with the added bonus of "burying" and blowing up the god weapons. Very nice.
Grisly Salvage: Fills up the graveyard, and can let us find our next land or creature.
Bow of Nylea: Make our creatures stronger, flying hate, deathtouch, and some lifegain. The best part is when we get Deadbridge Chant out, we can use the Bow of Nylea to put cards we don't want to draw (like lands) back under our library to increase our chances of getting something good!
Deadbridge Chant: Extremely powerful, not to be underestimated. The 10 card "cost" only helps our cause, and once you have this going, you will basically be drawing from 2 libraries per turn! Do be careful with it though, it is possible to mill yourself out if the game goes on too long.
And that's everything! It feels like this deck is missing something, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm open for suggestions if you guys have any. Thanks for checking out my deck!
