Wanted to have some fun with janky stuff as always, and really like the idea of a sacrifice deck in standard. What I have here is a mix of some ramp, some burning while sacking cards, early threats, and some cards that are just good value.
There are a couple of key combo/interactions here. The easiest one is
Collateral Damage
with any creature, which right now hits 24-28 targets depending on Ensoul Artifact. To squeak in an extra bit of damage, in response to a downfall or other removal, or to give bile blight an illegal target, it does work. There is also Shrapnel Blast and any artifact for similar reasons, hitting around 20 or so targets in the deck. Both of these can be used with
Scuttling Doom Engine
to have hilarious results of not just the burn, but also the trigger from the doom engine for an additional 6 damage. Of course, Ensoul Artifact with any artifact in the deck, particularly
Darksteel Citadel
or Ornithopter are particularly devastating early game. There is also
Ugin's Nexus
which protects against the unlikely Temporal Tresspass / Sage of Hours but more likely gets sacrificed to Shrapnel Blast for 5 damage and a free turn.
To get to play these twisted interactions, we need some ramp. Renowned Weaponsmith is a reusable artifact enabler, kicking things into gear quicker than normal. Generator Servant can be exactly what you need to not just make sure you get out your
Scuttling Doom Engine
, but give it haste as well. Jeskai Banner is a horrible card, but it can be a little boost in mana to get things done.
Also, for early threats/value cards, I really like
Frost Walker
, almost any removal will take it out, but it costs the opponent a card or a blocker for the small investment of 1U. It can be best utilized as an early threat or a distraction, but worst case scenariio for the opponent, if it runs unopposed the game turns into a 5 turn clock.
