Extirpate and/or Surgical Extraction are both really good cards for this type of deck. Check out my discard deck. deck:discard-08-02-13-1

What are your thoughts on card:Honden of Night's Reach?

I'd add certainly a Nyxathid , to have 4, and Gatekeeper of Malakir , just to have more creatures and removal. Really, REALLY good deck though. +1 from me.

I'd add Sign in Blood too, because you have all tiny spells, and find your hand empty, along with your opponent, by turn 5: nothing happens o.o. Thus, needs more draw

For those who don't know, Sodium thiopental is an alcohol-like drug of the barbiturate class that is often called a "truth serum" in Hollywood movies. It is used for anesthesia, induced coma, and in lethal injections. Wikipedia link

there aren't many vampires (and they are mostly black too), werewolves are scarce... and zombies are mostly black too. So, being able to kill most black creatures with Victim of Night wins over Doomblade. Also the BB cost versus 1B isn't a problem in a mono-black deck. Thanks for the feedback too :)

In my opinion Painful Quandary is nice but not cheap I would go for Quest for the Nihil Stone instaed, even though I know that you've erased it.

You should check Horrifying Revelation I added it to my deck Rats FTW (black discard) so far it's the best discard for 1 mana I've seen.

I like Painful Quandary in this deck. Yes, it does cost a lot, but it is a power house in the late game. Most of the time, your opponent will only have one or two cards in his hand at any given time. If they choose to play one of them, they risk discarding the other or if they only have one card, then they are constantly taking 5 to play it.

The only problem is card drawing later on. Fun deck, +1 for me!

One thing that gets a lot of raised eyebrows when I run it in discard decks, but it's such a brilliant card... Temple Bell . You sitting on a Mire's Toll that's doing nothing, because your opponent has no cards in hand? Well, both of you draw a card, and make him discard it. Guess what, your Liliana's Caress went off too, as would triggers for Quest for the Nihil Stone if it were in the deck. Temple Bell also solves the problem of YOU running out of steam.

How come nobody's mentioned The Rack or Nezumi Shortfang ? Both are way better than Liliana's Caress that ceases to be useful after your opponent starts playing from the top deck. It encourages your opponent to empty his/her hand while The Rack or Nezumi Shortfang punishes for it the same way Shrieking Affliction does. I'd also drop Guul Draz Specter and add in some raw single-use discards like Stupor or Blightning (provided you afford to splash in some BR dual lands).

And drop Painful Quandary . It's too expensive. Replace it with something else. Removal, for instance, will thin out your opponent's hands even though at first it doesn't seem that way. Or try Oona's Prowler which will force your opponent to react in some way unless he/she wants to get beaten by a 3/1 faerie.

New modified version of the deck, added and removed some cards, adjusted the proportions too. Please feel free to re-comment on it, good or bad, all is welcome. @skillreel: Added the Sign in Blood s, they work wonders after all, thanks for the insight. @Jelllyfish: Heeey nice catch with the last name... the truth serum, since the opponent can't lie by hiding it's hand :) @KongaDonga: Solved the card-drawing problem in the late game... I will go with Sign in Blood first... then I'll try Temple Bell , in case the other doesn't work. I'll also keep Painful Quandary , almost changed it for Exquisite Blood @HydrophobicFish: I'll eventually check the dynamics with Temple Bell thank you for that suggestion! @introvertigo: Damn man/girl, I had never stumbled upon Nezumi Shortfang , I find it truly useful, except that you can't have more than 1 deployed at the same time. For that reason, I'll go with x3 in the mainboard. Any further strategy about this card is welcome, given it's actual price. I'm dropping Liliana's Caress at the moment, they are a little slow in this build... Painful Quandary will stay for now, it gives strategic advantage in the late game. Thanks a lot for commenting, and your deck is also very efficient!! @Sai: Mmmmmmnope. Wrench Mind (cheaper CMC) or Hymn to Tourach (mighty expensive right now, but anyways) could be better options... but thanks for commenting, means a lot :) Thanks to you all people

Awesome deck and combos. Would only replace Mire's Toll with Wrench Mind.

Funeral Charm ? Can make them discard their topdeck draw. But also The Rack is a most have, sorry. It is because it don't have the modern cardframe? A "Duel of the Planeswalker" paper promo exists you know. Deathrite Shaman can be good too if you have the money for. I understand the "sloth" aspect and slow and painful death, but seriously, things can be faster, expecially against faster decks that will destroy you. But in casual, it's serious fun xD Nyxathid is a fine choice. Liliana of the Veil or Ensnaring Bridge ? They garantee you a better board control. Mass removal work too. Wrench Mind ? Work marvelous except against artifact deck. Look at my 8Rack deck : The Discard Rack

I love you. In all the hours browsing cards I never stumbled upon the Duels of the Planeswalkers version of the rack... I'll manage my finances to get some of those. I'm planning on getting some MTG: Twenty Hymn to Tourach instead of Wrench Mind heheheheh... and yeah, the deck is not spectacularly fast (like *Luxuria), but it gets the job done... and it's SOOO fun to play... watchin' your opponents as they discard things like Primalcrux , Dungrove Elder , Wurmcoil Engine and stuff like that is priceless. Also, thanks to all of you who have given support, points and reviews, I'm very happy with your help :) Cheers!

I understand you xD I have the "timeshifted" version as a compromise, but I HATE white-border and old cards. (which is why I wait for a Blackmail reprint in some deck) Beware, these promo cost like 3x and are very hard to get. For Hymn to Tourach , it's not modern legal, but if you play casually.

Geth's Verdict it deals one damage and kills the creature no exceptions in replace for Victim of the night.

Raven's Crime horrible card you must sacrifice a land in addition to it's other costs what? No go for a better card ik Thoughtseize is expensive but you have gone past the budget point in this deck so go for it. Nezumi Shortfang costs 2 mana and 2 mana for someone to discard a card... All in all 4 mana for a card nice one. Yea Hypnotic Specter is way better ik what your thinking they might block or kill him... Not when you discard/destroy there creatures >:). Pretty much that's all I gotta say love the deck and how you included Nyxathid never seen him :) +1
