I love tinkering around with different ideas and trying to make originality competitive. So I'm going for something very different. I despise playing meta decks, ie pod, splinter twin, affinity, all that stuff. I'm trying to develop a consistent engine with Mimic Vat that allows me to draw, scry, and have card removal when I need it. Since Preordain is banned, this puts a little hump in my plans. Board control is what I'm going for until I can get my Phyrexian Obliterator on the field. So here is the run down of my engine.
Mimic Vat + Bloodthrone Vampire Allows a sac engine that gets creatures into my vats. Also creates lock on their draw step when you have Mimic Vat + Bloodthrone Vampire +
Nevermaker
. This ends games very quickly.
Mimic Vat + Fulminator Mage constant land destruction allowing me to cripple storm and other such decks.
Mimic Vat + Solemn Simulacrum allows me to fetch lands every turn and card draw when he dies.
Mimic Vat + Phyrexian Obliterator alone Phyrexian Obliterator is my win condition. But paired with Mimic Vat I get him for 3 mana and a consistent attack dog every turn.
Mimic Vat + Shriekmaw A good consistent spot removal on the board. Pay the evoke cost and send it straight to the vats.
Mimic Vat + Vampire Nighthawk life gain and potential creature removal with deathtouch every turn.
Mimic Vat +
Nevermaker
more removal for the board, but allows any nonland permanents. So goodbye Birthing Pod.
Mimic Vat + Mulldrifter My favorite combo personally. pay evoke cost and send it straight to the vats. I get to draw three cards every turn.
That's my deck. It is basically a war of attrition with my mimic vats. But it still feels a bit clunky and slow, any advice is welcome and +1's are great. Please let me know what you think.
