"Chimil gave the Oltec time. Ojer Pakpatiq gave them the tools to learn its lessons."
Synergy
Have you ever had trouble with time management or racing the clock? Most of us do, but in this clock (I mean deck!) it is you who controls the ebb & flow of time while you opponents run (and lose) a most Suspend-ful race against it. "Time always catches up with me" Teferi once said, and per the Suspend mechanic cards Chronomantic Escape and Reality Strobe it will catch your foes, the former protecting you from all attacks every three turns and latter bouncing a creature of your choice at the same interval. Making this a Control clock (I mean deck!) without Counterspells since your opponent's strategy will be slowed to a crawl or utterly undone as they are forced to follow your timetable. A schedule you can speed up using Jhoira's Timebugs and Paradox Haze to the point that your foes may almost never get to attack. But if they do that is what Fog Banks, Everdawn Champion, Wall of Denial and Seraph of the Sword are for, presenting a nearly unassailable wall; a defense augmented by tapping their creatures using the Dauntless River Marshals and Marshal of Zhalfir. All of which allows Azor's Elocutors to maintain a filibuster for the five turns necessary to win the game. Yet what is a time deck without Teferi, Who Slows the Sunset and Ojer Pakpatiq, Deepest Epoch
? While the Deep God's rebound ability is not applicable in this clock (I mean deck!), his mastery of time means he never truly dies - not if you pray at his flip-side Temple of Cyclical Time
. Meanwhile, Teferi and indeed all other tools in this clock (I mean deck!) feed perfectly into your other win conditions that are The Millennium Calendar, the flip side of the Faithbound Judge
s, and of course Dark Depths (that last of which is not technically a win condition, but few if any can stand against dread Marit Lage when she awakens from her icy prison). Truly you can quote Teferi's famous saying to your opponents, “The safest place for you is not now.”
Playability Results
This clock (I mean deck!) works best when you manage your own time well, the idea being to attack from behind the safety of your walls and Chronomantic Escape while Reality Strobe and your creature-tappers keep other problem in check while maintaining your defenses so as to keep Azor's Elocutors running. Like Teferi says “Controlling time ensures you need never look impulsive again,” and this clock (I mean deck!) epitomizes that phrase since with control and proper time management you can leave your foes watching helplessly as the wheel of time grinds them to dust. Insofar as weaknesses go, Aggro-Burn is the best match-up against this clock (I mean deck!) since burn spells are unaffected by Chronomantic Escape, can incinerate your Seraphs and Fog Banks, and break the filibuster of Azor's Elocutors. Unblockable works too of course, for obvious reasons. (Word of warning, your friends will also want to strangle you. Even when you lose they will look at the deck like they want to shred it.)
