Agreed, Boros Charm is a little more aggressive, you should drop 1 or 2 for more control with Azorius Charm or Orzhov Charm .

Elite Archanist Is really slow and doesn't work with Guttersnipe since the copies don't count as an instant or sorcery. It also takes an instant away from Spellheart Chimera . I may just have a personal vendetta against Archanist though.

Aerokid The synergy with Elite Arcanist is crazy though but I hear you. I'll drop 1 Boros Charm for 1 Orzhov Charm .

Thanks!

BashfulPanda actually the Arcanist says you may "cast" the spell, which is what Guttersnipe checks for.

There is one card that would be HILARIOUS to see in this deck. Melek,Izzet Paragon doubles everything that's cast off of the top of your deck. It seems hilarious in here, for some charms, not all of them, but still, it's funny, and it can add value out of a Boros Charm lets say?

kyle_mit Good point. I could probably drop 2 charms to put in 2 Melek, Izzet Paragon . Which though?

November 7, 2013 1:53 p.m.

DrMundo says... #9

Or maybe just put him instead of Spellheart Chimera ?

MinscAndBoo says... #10

Oh did I mention +1?

Melek is an awesome idea, but keep Spellheart too! FLYING GOAT CHARMS!!

For my money you should prefer Arcanist to the Goblin...you get so much flexibility, choose any mode of the charm each time you cast it. I would do -4 Guttersnipe +2 Spellheart and 2 more charms.

2 Melek, Izzet Paragon , 1 Simic Charm , and 1 Dimir Charm . take out the Elite Arcanist , they don't do anything to the deck but allow charms to be reused over and over again, however it has to wait a turn before being able to work. it's a good card, but in formats like commander or a modern deck that uses Isochron Scepter and some crazy spell combo.

This is a hilarious deck, but I feel like it could actually perform at FNM. If you do try this out, let us know.

I will have to try it out. I'll let you guys know how this works out lol

Awesome. In the event that you do, I'd suggest moving all of the Rakdos Charm and Gruul Charm to the side. Rakdos is decent if they're running creature spam or Whip of Erebos , but aside from that it's not very useful. Gruul Charm is kind of irrelevant unless you're playing against Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver . Other than that it either kills your spellheart or makes nonflyers not block, which your main beater is flying anyways.

If you make room you can toss that 4th Boros Charm back in, I forgot how amazing it can be with Spellheart, and it's also devastating with Melek.

If you can afford a Boros Reckoner or two, try putting them in for infinite life combo with Izzet (deal 2 damage), Azorius (lifelink), and Boros (indestructible) charms: keep targeting him with his ability when he is indestructible and lifelinked. Could be pretty hilarious if it ever happens.

DrMundo says... #18

Timebender I do have a playset of Boros Reckoner but I don't really think they fit in well in this deck for the sole reason that there's really nothing that I really want to take out of the deck right now.

I'll keep the idea though if I ever decide to make some changes!

Aerokid Thanks a lot for all those suggestions! They really do make a lot of sense and I feel they're going to make this deck better.

What do you think of the deck as it is right now?

I wish shock lands worked with Maze's End . That'd be a sick alternate win-con.

Definite +1 [:

Isochron Scepter might be a good addition for matchups where you find that one particular Charm is exceptionally useful against your opponent's particular deck.

I gave it a few playtests and I found that the deck really beats itself up a lot to keep pace. Unfortunately there is almost no mana acceleration that would fit well in this deck, save maybe Verdant Haven .

Usually Spellheart Chimera is a late play in a control deck, but being one of the few beaters you have, he sees the field as early as possible. a T4 trick play involving a simic and boros charm allowed me to hit for 12, though hanging on to one or the other for protection might have been a better play. The thing is that with so many possibilities from so few cards, this deck is crazy hard to play. The good thing about that is that you're prepared for virtually any matchup. For example, against Mono-blue devo, Selesnya Charm will nail that pesky Thassa, and Golgari Charm will clean those stupid elementals right up.

If you have any Young Pyromancer lying around, that'll give you a little more aggression and some chump blockers just in case you don't have any removal. It's also a huge target to draw out some of your opponent's removal before you play spellheart.

DrMundo says... #25

Aerokid I have removed Guttersnipe for Young Pyromancer , you bring up a good point with having many tokens as chump blockers, it could work way better than using Guttersnipe as win con. I'm thinking maybe upping the amount of Simic Charm to 4 though so that I can protect more my creatures and possibly combo with Boros Charm more often!
