metalaxe777 believe it or not, some charms are more useful than others. You don't want to see the not so useful ones as much, so there's less in the deck. Archaeomancer is trash, he's a weak body that gets you a single card back for 4 mana, which is an utter waste of a turn. Same with Mnemonic Wall .

I agree that some charms are better than the others, but the problem with the deck right now is that there are not enough creatures. You may have lots of charms, if you don't have creatures you'll get ripped by every aggro and midgame decks out there... plus it's more funny to have EVERY charms AND in the same amount!! I'd even get rakdos and gruul back and get 2 of each for the lulz! The funny part (and goal) of the deck is the randomness of charms! It is not competitive, he doesn't even have all those lands! Hell he could just use every guildgate and maze's end instead, it would give the deck some balls of fire!! But that's just my opinion!

Change up the cards to run Maze's End , if you're only shocking once or twice a game I'd much rather have the alt win con...
Apart from that, solid deck, and if I can get my hands on the charms I'll run it at my local Tuesday Night Magic (a little mini tourney for proxy decks/play-testing we do) and post here about how I go!

I'm not going to put Maze's End in because that would require me to remove more important pieces out of the deck.

Like what? You can run 20 lands, have Maze's End , and keep all your charms. Here's my take on it, I'm sure it can be done and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than 20 shocklands xD

Maze's End is a ridiculously inefficient wincon in the current meta with the over representation of agro. You can't even potentially win with it until at least turn 10 and thats being extremely optimistic. Not worth slowing down the deck to wait each turn for your gates to untap either.

The only thing I like on your take on it is the Verdant Haven

I can't see any reason to run it in anything either. Maybe in edh. Maybe it could work, but even then its just an awful idea.

BashfulPanda decks that run it are usually turbo fog or similar.

It depends on how you're planning on using it. Personally I'd mostly use it as a tutor to filter all the guildgates out of my deck and up the chances of getting those charms to cast. If you're putting it in just for the win con you're going to be disappointed pretty frequently, if you're just using it to get the right colours or thin your deck for spell slinging you'll find the win con popping up as a nice surprise.

lol this seems like a really fun deck, if it was very competitive i would build it for the next ptq

I had the same deck idea a while back. MAKE A MODERN VERSION WITH Isochron Scepter !!! I did, it is HILARIOUS.

Hi DrMundo, really cool idea here. I've read through all the comments and as yet i havent seen this suggestion (or I skimmed past it):
Work your Guttersnipe s in, leave the Young Pyromancer s there, take out chimera and add Nivmagus Elemental .
As im writing this Im actually realising the Spellheart Chimera gives flying.
But I do like the cast a spell, deal Guttersnipe damage, put a elemental on the battlefield, exile said spell to add +2 to Nivmagus Elemental .
+1 anyway!

Moonsheep I used to have him at first in this deck but there are a couple of things I don't like about Guttersnipe , his 2/2 body is kind of weak and he doesn't have any kind of evasion, where Spellheart Chimera .
As for Nivmagus Elemental , I don't really want my charms not to resolve seeing the whole deck is based around them :/

For someone on a budget, do you think the deck would work as well with guildgates rather than shocklands?
LordRuler mentioned having Maze's End as an alternative win condition which could be fun.
Have you or anyone else tried it with the guildgates?
January 4, 2014 5:47 p.m.
Quija I don't think it would work as well but it would probably work decently or so I would assume.
January 4, 2014 6:07 p.m.
Actually i was playing somone online and what they did was cast the spell, it resolved, went to the graveyard and then it got exiled, so your spells would actually resolve first. I dare say if you used nivmagus to exile it before it resolves or while it is on the field it wouldnt be good for you.
