I'm a big fan of those quick winning decks, and this is another one of them. Loaded with cards to get your creatures big quick, you can usually knock your opponent out, especially with the addition of double strike in this deck.
**(To make this deck cheaper, remove the Stormbreath Dragon from the sideboard. Also, lose the shock lands, and run 2 more of each color. I don't suggest guild gates or scry lands, because speed is vital in this deck. If you had to replace Ajani, Caller of the Pride, run a good instant, or possibly
Pursuit of Flight
, which I find gives a strong buff for only 2 mana.
Card Description:
Creatures- all of the creatures in this deck are one drop, because that's what this deck has to do on turn one: get a creature out. I chose these because they can get big pretty quickly.
Favored Hoplite
: Great creature card in this deck, being a one drop, and since all of the instants, sorceries and enchantments trigger his heroic, making him really easy to get big.
Favored Eidolon: He's a one drop, but more importantly an enchantment creature, so Ethereal Armor gets really potent with this dude out on the field. His lifelink is also another minor benefit, as is his bestow.
Rakdos Cackler- One drop 2/2 basically. Soldier of the Pantheon could replace him, but this guy is a strong creature, and a great one drop in any deck.
Enchantments-I chose enchantments that were low drop and provided a lot of +X/+X for my creatures.
Madcap Skills
-Great enchantment that gives a creature a big boost on turn 2 and early evasion. A must have.
Ethereal Armor-Another irreplaceable enchantment. With 16 enchantments in this deck, it usually provides about +3/+3 by the time I win.
Pursuit of Flight
-Two drop for +2/+2, so it's a good enchantment, though nothing else special about it. I want to replace it, but can't seem to find a better enchantment...
Instants- I chose instants that gave double strike to accelerate our victory or pump creatures.
Gods Willing-Obviously doesn't give double strike, however, it can help with the survivability of the creatures, and can give them evasion. Scry is a nice bonus.
Titan's Strength
- +3/+1 is great, and the added scry is nice as well. On turn 3 or 4, using this with a Boros Charm or
Armed
can end the game.
Boros Charm- My personal favorite charm, since I like a would use ALL of its abilities. Indestructibility provides survivability, the four damage can finish an opponent off, but the double strike is the big reason it's used in the deck.
Sorceries:
Armed
- Double strike, basically it.
Planeswalker:
Ajani, Caller of the Pride- I love is +1 and -3 abilities. On turn 3, you can play him and use his double strike.
Quick Wins:
When creating this deck, I aimed at making it a deck that could consistently win turn 3-5, and when I play tested it, it could deal over 20 damage easily, with an average turn win of 4.3 (I did 10 games). 2 out of those 10 were turn 3.
Basic Idea:
Turn 1: Land: Creature.
Turn 2: Land, Enchant Creature, swing.
Turn 3: Land, Play
Titan's Strength
, Play double strike spell, swing for game.
Turn 4: (If you didn't have a Titan's and a double strike spell) Depending on how much damage you've dealt, just swing again, or throw another double strike down.
Example (3 Turn)
Turn 1: Plains,
Favored Hoplite
Turn 2: Mountain,
Madcap Skills
on
Favored Hoplite
taking him to a 5/3. Swing for 5.
Turn 3: Mountain, Play
Titan's Strength
and Boros Charm, taking him to a 7/5 (10/6 for the turn) double strike, swing for game.
Example (4 Turn):
Turn 1: Mountain, Rakdos Cackler, unleash.
Turn 2: Plains,
Madcap Skills
on Rakdos Cackler, swing for 5.
Turn 3: Mountain,
Pursuit of Flight
, swing for 7.
Turn 4: Swing for game.
To make this deck even cheaper, lose the shock lands, and run 2 more of each color. I don't suggest guild gates or scry lands, because speed is vital in this deck. If you had to replace Ajani, Caller of the Pride, run a good instant, such as
Swift Justice
, Dynacharge or
Battlewise Valor
.
