Whew... after RTR and Theros Block I thought I'd never see a good rare again! Thankfully, Khans seems to have brought a crapton of playables to the table. This deck tests out most of them as 2-ofs. Add whatever you want on the sideboard; I personally find them extremely boring to put together.
CREATURES:
Warden of the First Tree
: We have another Figure of Destiny that can keep pumping late game and actually has useful abilities? Hell yes!
Bloodsoaked Champion: Why not? Good early damage and keeps coming back for more.
Dragon Hunter
: Beats roughly every banger in Standard, plus good, early damage. Should have protection from all Commands and
Roast
too (dragons make them happen), but then it would have to be a mythic.
Den Protector: Not a bad low drop, plus the late game card can be a game changer.
Hidden Dragonslayer:
Silumgar Assassin
's elder and better. Lifelinked
Reprisal
on a stick. Should be played in all standard white decks.
Silumgar Assassin
: I'm not a huge fan of him, but he does do very well against Assault Formation decks... only kidding. Does control early game extremely well, as he will be hitting harder than anything that's hitting back.
Rakshasa Deathdealer
: Too amazing to leave out. Great in early and late game.
Anafenza, the Foremost: What the hell was Wizards thinking? First they release two blocks where the best 3-drop beaters were
Fanatic of Xenagos
and Loxodon Smiter, then they come out with something that actually has two really good abilities on top of being huge and bangy. Unfortunately, it's legendary, but I still conidered running a 4-of.
Deathmist Raptor: Amazing. Makes my cards that get more late game (Hidden Dragonslayer,
Silumgar Assassin
, Den Protector) become incredible 3-for-1 bombs, all for six mana.
Grim Haruspex: Cards? Hell yes!
Ojutai Exempars: I would feel like the world's biggest scrub without this in any white deck. Makes my charms and commands do double duty and also gets a boost off of Collected Company.
Brutal Hordechief: Another bomb that never would have existed in Ravnica or Theros. Make up for not blocking early game, hit harder, easy removal/unblockable.
Siege Rhino: Not my favorite, but survives almost all removal, helps me beat down early or survive for later, and is a nice body to have. Too good not to leave out.
Collected Company: I am completely justified considering this a creature, or better than one. In this deck, often can get another 10 power onto the board at instant speed. Should be a mythic.
Wingmate Roc: Not actually an insane bomb compared with the rest of the deck, but amazing nonetheless: six power + a bunch of life every turn = awesome.
Dromoka, the Eternal: Amazing rock. Huge, flies, makes your little guys with nice combat abilities shine. Also works well on it's own with an extra +2/+2 per attack.
NONCREATURE:
Dromoka's Command: Kill an annoying Keranos, God of Storms or other god, boost a dude, fight or wreck Anger of the Gods? Should be banned.
Abzan Charm: What's not to like? Boost a creature, make your opponent rage about losing their dragon, or instant-speed Sign in Blood.
LAND BASE:
I'm not going to discuss landbase, as it's pretty simple: Use what you need to get your cards out. There will always be more dual lands.
