"Trample says:

702.18b The controller of an attacking creature with trample first assigns damage to the creature(s) blocking it. Once all those blocking creatures are assigned lethal damage, any remaining damage is assigned as its controller chooses among those blocking creatures and the player or planeswalker the creature is attacking. When checking for assigned lethal damage, take into account damage already marked on the creature and damage from other creatures thats being assigned during the same combat damage step, but not any abilities or effects that might change the amount of damage thats actually dealt. The attacking creatures controller need not assign lethal damage to all those blocking creatures but in that case cant assign any damage to the player or planeswalker its attacking."

The part that says, "When checking for assigned lethal damage, take into account damage already marked on the creature and damage from other creatures thats being assigned during the same combat damage step, but not any abilities or effects that might change the amount of damage thats actually dealt." Deathtouch applies because it is an effect. So I believe no you cannot assign 1 damage because that would change the amount.

Ahh ljduh is right http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/97 it was revamped so the first damage applied to a creature is enough to kill it. Good read and info for the future.

Phytoburst is better than Titanic Growth . also, i'm sure you took into acoount that Wasteland Viper does not have flash like Ambush Viper , but i wanted to make sure cause that instant speed could mess up your opponent pretty badly.

@ Zacoly green does not have answers to board wipe. you either kill them fast enough or hope they get mana screwed. you could use Mending Touch but thats only for one creature. if you splash a color, you get a lot more chances but i don't think he is aiming for that.

You can't really counter the board wipe, but taking out the blood artist with something like Pit Fight is a nice option.

Revenge of the Hunted is unfortunately Sorcery Speed. Not Instant speed so it wouldn't work how you wanted it to with Ambush Viper

I had a very similar deck to this for a while. How about Increasing Savagery ?

@ yuval

I suppose the best place to put Increasing Savagery in would be in place of Fungal Sprouting but I really enjoy that card in this deck, it adds a unique touch and can in some ways be slightly more effective. Nothing gives me more joy than finishing my opponent with 7/7 Sapolings led by a Wild Beastmaster !

Both are good, I just think Fungal Sprouting is a little bit more entertaining :)

Very good suggestion though. Thankyou!

why the cavern? your entire point (at least in the description) was to use Wild Beastmaster, maybe try Oran-Rief, the Vastwood

@ silentorgy2

I built this deck out of cards that were standard legal at the time. It's an old deck.

If I remade this deck as a modern deck I'd probably use Yavimaya Hollow with my forests

And probably Hunter's Insight instead of Garruk, Primal Hunter
