Hey again, just got back from the modern tourney. The deck went fine, I loved it. Finished 2-2 with it, lost the first round because of a mistake I made, won the second, lost the third and won the fourth.
First round (1-2) was extremely close, only had artifact creature first game and he had a guy on the table that he could sacrifice to destroy target artifact. He had 2 of them in play but i had an Apostle's Blessing in my hand. The ability cost 1 mana and he only had 1 open so I charged in, threw a boost, he sacrificed his guy to destroy the myr. I then apostle it, but he had a mana dork in play I forgot about so he was able to activate the second guy he had in response and sac the creature, cost me the game. Second match was easy win for me, turn 4 I think. Third game was extremely close, I was setup good, had everything on board by turn 4 was gonna kill him next turn but he played an Ajani, Caller of the Pride previously, giving his Loxodon Smiter a +1/+1 counter. Turn 4 he made him flying double strike, would of hit for 12 because of exalted but he flashed in a Boon Satyr bestow for 20 damage and the win =(
Second round (2-0) was against a black deck with Tarmogoyf and other nasty things, but I trampled him easy. He then dropped out of tournament, picked his stuff and raged home. Was the best really. 800$ deck bested by a 20$ one, he wasn't happy!
Third round (0-2) was the worst, was against a red burn deck. He was able to nuke me for 20 before I could do 10 was extremely annoying. I kept a 1 forest hand the first game and didn't draw another till turn 3, but by then it was too late. Second game was going good, was about to swing him next turn for win but he took me to 9 before his turn and then finished it with 3 bolt =/
Fourth went really well (2-0). Was against Gruul aggro. I had a bit too much land and not enough juice the first game, but he lost it because he kept attacking me to do 20 instead of just waiting and kill my creatures with blocks.
Didn't end up playing against blue so the Savage Summoning weren't used but I main boarded 2 Ranger's Guile instead of 2 Groundswell and it saved my creature once with double hex.

Grimwolf79 - thank you for the report! I figure actually that's exactly how it'll go for me as well haha. The second round you describe is hilarious and exactly what the true function of this deck is. There's a reason it's not listed under the 'competitive' hub, this is just my modern entry deck. Thanks for taking the time to play my deck at your tournament instead of...well...anything else! Did you play it essentially card for card besides the sideboard? Since some choices such as Llanowar Augur and reduced/no Inkmoth Nexus es are often weird to some people.Round one sounds gross - what card destroys artifacts like that? Sounds more like a sideboard card haha.

I played the infect event deck for awhile and tried to turn into G/U but didnt work so i gave up, i think this idea will get me back into it, i just wanna screw the normal guys around (im the guy thats played at the fnm shop here since it started and consider myself the original, so if i can hate play newbies i will!)+1

Yeah it was the Qasali Pridemage , had an exalted deck. I used pretty much card for card except I wasn't able to get my hand on a Pendelhaven and I won't play Inkmoth Nexus , most time I have 2 maybe 3 forest when the game is over, couldn't do it with a colorless land. I don't have the Phytoburst either, running the older version of your deck with 3 Rancor .
I'll play around with it a bit, I really loved the Apostle's Blessing , thinking of adding a 4th in place of the 3rd Rancor , I'll see.
Oh and Llanowar Augur is fucking MVP man, that shit rocks. Won me 80% of my games. After the first win they really start the hate on him, leaving my creature up 1 more round, enough time to Rancor or Apostle's Blessing to victory! Sacc'ed for boost or removal bait, he does his job one way or another.

@Grimwolf79 - awesome. Currently I don't even have the sideboard listed, and in my real life version I actually have the 4th Apostle's Blessing , so if it starts doing work I'll probably side it in, if not main the entire playset. Hopefully I can smash some of the people doubting Llanowar Augur ! I figured a free giant growth with trample wasn't a thing to laugh at. Thanks again for giving it a spin, i'll update this when i'm done my own tourney.

Love the idea! It's All-In, but I like it :) +1

ill suggest a fourth Apostle's Blessing to help deal with the artifacts

have you thought of using Gather Courage tap the augur and play it before saccing him, i used Blessings of Nature in my old infect, the miracle cost is great for our little elves survival. then there is Predator's Strike wich cost 2 yes, but a giant growth with trample? Prey's Vengeance is worth looking into. but truly suggest Revenge of the Hunted for the deck.

@Draykell - thanks for the suggestions! Gather Courage and Llanowar Augur seem like a good idea, but i dont see the augurs that much, I think it would end up a dead card in hand quite often (or atleast very suboptimal, one G for +2/+2). Looking for free buffs like that is always good though. I like miracle cards, I used to use Revenge of the Hunted in standard and it's hilarious, but as a glass cannon deck it's actually very very consistent...I think miracle cards might get in the way of that. I'm almost drooling re-read Revenge of the Hunted , but I think seeing it in my opening hand would be a mulligan everytime, I dunno...

Very cool deck fast but not fast enough amigo :) check out my deck seriously is the Fastest Infect Deck! it wins consistently on T2-T4 mostly turn 2-3 if i have the infect creatures.

Nice to hear you did so well man! Told you that Llanowar Augur was the MVP! Keep the story coming hehe

@40cal - that's true, but it's also not a Modern deck. For a Modern deck, mine performs very fast (Invigorate is not Modern legal, it's about the only difference between the two decks lol)
@Grimwolf79 - will do! was a good time haha.
January 25, 2014 1:55 p.m.
Yes but if i replace Invigorate it'll still be faster by a little simply because of your Inkmoth Nexus and you not having enough trample/protection add more rancor truly

Yeah in my real life version I don't actually run Inkmoth Nexus , been meaning to change that, Forest s are way better haha.
Rancor can get useless fast, thats why it's inefficient to run 4x. If you draw two, it becomes a +2/+0 for one whereas the deck has much better efficiency through Groundswell and Might of Old Krosa .
Also for protection my Apostle's Blessing and Vines of Vastwood works wonders - you don't mainboard your Apostle's Blessing s, only vines?

I like the idea! Fast, and seems consistent enough to compete. If Birthing Pod gets the axe with this next round of banning a (which looks like it is a realistic possibility); I'd say you have a downright competitive deck :). Either way, however, it's a fun deck with good idea and interesting explanation. I gotta learn how to format the color of the fonts like that! +1 of course.

Thank you! I had to no idea about Birthing Pod ... not very informed about modern as a format compared to standard haha. I normally either ignore it or Pithing Needle the Birthing Pod itself. More focused on Dismember ing Melira, Sylvok Outcast if she shows up. I'm glad to hear that (well, sadly for the birthing pod players) considering its one of my worst match ups, if not the worst one I've played so far. Still waiting to get crushed by UWR control haha

Haha! Well we've yet to find a deck that has as a great match up against every deck...but that's what makes MTG great! Regardless, you've made a great deck. +2 if I could :)

Melira, Sylvok Outcast can be dealt with by Hunt the Hunter instead of Dismember . It's not instant speed, but you don't have to lose 4 life. The only problem is that you don't have a lot of green creatures, only half. But I think it still needs to be mentioned.

@demongod - I believe it is Aboroth ? I just went on the Gatherer website and looked at cool green creatures I think, it's not relevant to the deck itself haha.
@Grimwolf79 - That's an interesting choice, I think I would need to use Blight Mamba again in that case because otherwise, as you said, only half my creatures would be target-able. And even then, the +2/+2 on Llanowar Augur would purely just be to fight Melira, Sylvok Outcast where as on Glistener Elf it can be a pump as well. I think I might stick to Dismember for now because I really don't mind the 4 life loss considering how fast the deck is...pod is rather midrange, and only burn decks have gotten me close to being 'low life' and I wouldn't be using Dismember against them anyways.

@Grimwolf79 - Savage Summoning is a great idea, i love it. I figured Vines of Vastwood is similar enough to Ranger's Guile , but it might function well as a sideboard option.
@NateJH - tomorrow morning! I honestly expect to do maybe 2-2, we'll see. The deck is such a glass cannon, i'm mainly just looking to have some fun matches with it considering I spent $10. I will update asap afterwards.
