@40cal - HTML, I put: < font color="33DD33" >Infect.< /font >

(with no spaces between the part)

You can change the "font color=####' part to any HEX code for other colours

Yea honestly i got none of what that means? Haha but ty ill search into it

It's just basic HTML so...when you edit your deck description, say you have a title like mine that says INFECT at the top. Instead of just putting "INFECT" at the top, you put the words 'font colour' and '/font' around it, this tells it to change the font colour of the word in the middle.

so in my case I have < font color="GREEN" > INFECT (the text) < /font > (the /font tells it to stop here, but for some reason on tappedout it changes ALL the font, which is cool actually).

and for specific colours, they have different HEX codes. For the green I use, the code is 33DD33. So the fontcolor= part is saying font color = GREEN.

This page has all the different HEX codes you can use: http://www.pagetutor.com/common/bgcolors1536.png

For example, if I use a font color in the middle of the far left column (blue), I get A blue colour like this, by using the HTML code

Honestly I'm probably pretty bad at explaining this...good luck though! It's quite basic HTML lol

O and some tips since this is modern add 4 Pendelhaven as well as remove Phytoburst and 1 Apostle's Blessing in order to add 2 Rancor playtester it you will see :) just some tips

Explanation: see 4x Pendelhaven makes it so that if you do not need that 1 extra land charge it to a 2/3 creature then use your pump spells 4 just makes it more consistent now i bought 4x Phytoburst before realizing Giant Growth are even better lol 2 mana for +5/+5 when really 2 Giant Growth for a +6/+6.

So Rancor is pretty OP here simply because when it dies you return it to your hand as well as giving your creature +2/0 and trample for those pesty creatures. Even if your creature dies that trample just won you the game. Basically if someone has a multicolored deck Apostle's Blessing does not ensure your safety 100% but still does a great job which is why I'm saying only have 2

40cal: I'll explain my reasoning card by card I guess...

Pendelhaven - I would love to run 4x because it is basically just a forest with the added tap benefit if I don't need it for mana to give +1/+2, however it is a Legendary land. When one is played, any others on the field are destroyed, this makes any more than 1 being drawn a completely dead card which is a terrible thing to have in a deck that has no card draw and relies purely on just dropping your entire hand to kill your opponent.

Phytoburst - there are a few different cards I can run over this, but Giant Growth isn't an option considering I already have 4x mainboard. +5/+5 for 2 mana is obviously less optimal than +6/+6 for the same cost, but a big factor that can't be overlooked is that the same benefit from Giant Growth requires two cards. Similar to Pendelhaven , having a dead card in hand or bad card draw is really bad for this deck, so although Giant Growth can produce more pump for the same cost, Phytoburst allows room for an additional card in hand.

Rancor - I originally ran an entire playtest of Rancor , but again I'll stress the theme of consistency and efficiency that keeps popping up...similar again to Pendelhaven , having more than 1 Rancor in hand is very very inefficient, even for the reasons you say (it comes back to hand). That means after the first one is played, and a second one is drawn, the second one is only a +2/+0 pump for 1 mana...whereas the deck has much better options such as +3/+3 or even +4/+4 from 8 sources. The re-playability of it coming back it hand is one of the reasons you don't need to run 4x and can leave room for other cards that have more diverse effects.

....Word. Thanks for the discussion!

i suggest adding a Fog or two in the sideboard. it litterally saves your life. my bro has an infect deck, he swung in for 3 infect one turn, his opponent took it since 3 infect wasn't that big to sack one of his creatures to, so he swung in for the win, but my bro played a fog, then with all his creatures tapped, swung in for 7 infect for the win. I see your sideboard has a lot of 4-of's in it. the only cards you have against pure aggro decks like rdw, or naya zoo, is Dismember and Wild Defiance , which is really inneffective against those kind of decks. see, i know your deck is fast, but there are decks that are as fast as yours. you need some more protection from those overly fast decks.

Nice deck, great results despite that low price. Who says you need to drop thousands for a viable deck ?

+1 from me. Also the green text is pretty awesome.

As soon as Melirapod dies out, this has a shot at Tier 1...

Melirapod dying out? It went third place in Pro Tour BNG yesterday ;-)

February 24, 2014 5:16 a.m.

It will eventually.

I completely agree with Emrakul...only because I hope that's true ;), not because I can actually guess that it's going to happen. I do have quite the hatred for Melira, Sylvok Outcast herself, so it'd be nice.

The deck is ok, but very situational. Every single game that I tested it, the glistener elf would just get bolted and i would be stuck with a hand full of pumps. When it works, it works like a charm, but around 90% of the time the deck just gets ruined by terminates, lavalanches, and lightning bolts of jund decks. Good against control but horrible against jund.

February 27, 2014 4:08 p.m.

Myogenesis says... #16

Luckily only one guy at my LGS plays Jund and I have yet to face him...again, this deck is purely just for fun and is functioning as an introduction to the modern format for myself, if i stomp through a few games and place decently in a couple FNMs than it's worked beyond what I need it to. Having won half the FNMs so far is great, and I look forward to the next one (tomorrow actually! will report then).

Even if one $300+ jund deck beats me, it's fine compared to the rest that fall to my ~$20 shenanigans haha.

Also against Jund I would probably bring in Savage Summoning to haste out a guy on turn ~3 when they've tapped out if I have lethal in hand, which can easily just be two cards/mana in most cases, that or Wild Defiance

February 27, 2014 4:18 p.m.

jcx4x4 says... #17

yes, the deck does exactly what it is supposed to do for a 20$ deck compared to the more expensive tier 1 jund decks.

Due to affinity and certain token decks being able to give you quite the headache, I recommend running Ratchet Bomb in the sideboard to wreck their day by blowing up either all 1-drops or all 0-drops.

Hey, I love this deck and I'm making it for my local FNM, but since I'm a semi-new player I'm not very familiar with the cards (or even the Modern format). Would you mind explaining what situations you're using your sideboard for, and what you're siding out for specific cards? Thanks!

Hi! Isnt better Wild Defiance over Livewire Lash ? And I cannot agree with you about Inkmoth Nexus ;) it depends on your metagame, but when you play agains top deck, Nexus is the card which win the games ;) because it deals the last poison counter, which is the most difficult to deal it ;) nothing against you, it is only my oppinion after hunderts of games

May 20, 2014 12:29 p.m.

Grimwolf79 says... #22

Livewire Lash is good because it's the creature that deals the 2 damage. It will be infected damage if your opponent try to cast removal on it. It gives you reach that you can't get if let's say your creature get Unsummon , or Path to Exile .

May 20, 2014 8:20 p.m.

What's your plan vs burn or white weenies? WW will just make enough creatures to block everything, and I guarantee they can make creatures faster than you. Burn will force you to waste your pump spells just to keep creatures alive. You have 4 Vines of Vastwood , but those run out pretty quickly when you're using 1 every turn. Also, you need removal for when you're playing Melira Pod. Melira Pod will tear you apart unless you can get rid of Melira.

Also, Inkmoth Nexus will not slow you down that much, and it's worth it to get flying. The only matchup it's bad in is vs. Melira Pod, and you can easily board it out then.

I would suggest that you go through with the Ranger's Guile and add Prey Upon as removal.

Myogenesis says... #24

@Programmer_112 - I haven't played against much WW except for mono-white hatebears which is close (Serra Avenger s, AEther Vial , Thalia, Guardian of Thraben , etc.). Creature decks generally aren't a problem; I either use pumps to make a few smart trades and get ahead, go unblockable with Apostle's Blessing , or they can't keep up with Rancor while also killing me. Same as burn I would say, no one in my meta plays it as far as I've seen, but it would be an equal fight in opposite ways I guess - if they're using burn spells to kill my creatures they're not killing me, just like if I'm using pump spells to save them I'm not infecting them. Couldn't say until I fight them though.

Dismember is the melira removal. Hilariously, I once got an opponent down to 2 life using Llanowar Augur to swing for 16 because of melira preventing infection and he stopped caring about his life total (ie cracking fetches/shocks, pay more life costs than normal, etc.).

I have goldfished and tested this deck more than I'd like to admit (granted it's fast enough that you can do so at a very high rate), and Inkmoth Nexus is still on the fence. I'm still keeping it in mind, but the fact that I also don't own any just holds me back further as well.

+1, especially for the long comments on match-ups and deck performace; very illustrative for the newcomer to Infect! Well done! Thanks for the ideas of Llanowar Augur and Dismember to deal with Melira, Sylvok Outcast
