I see what you mean. This deck seems pretty straight forward: damage + face = win. You pilot the deck in a reserved fashion until it's time to just blast everyone away. I get it.

Hey EternalBrewmaster I was wondering if you thought about running Star of Extinction.

Love the deck... +1!
How do you make the boxes such as the comment boxes slightly see through as they are on here? Mine always stay brown.

how do the deserts work out for you? i run a similar deck but with almost all mountains. how often are deserts relevant?

They're more for flavor but Scavenger Grounds and Ramunap Ruins are always great.

Gotcha, I have a few of them and seeing this made me want to put them in. But I'm another singleton land player and love all my mountains, don't want to take any out.

so i built a similar deck, big thanks for lighting the way.
Soulbright Flamekin does serious work for me. paying 4 precombat (when i usually have a ton of unused mana means 1) trample, and it means second main I can pay 2 for 8 red.
Need for Speed is another card that probably has overperformed for me. but its a great turn 1 play, and its always optional. you may not be stuck for hastey effects but I've found neheb gets hated off the board before i can attack unless he has haste. Bloodlust Inciter was in this spot, but need is harder to get rid of and I haven't felt the downside has been that detrimental.
big thanks for posting this. Gave me some great ideas and a much better direction for my deck.

I'm glad this was so helpful for you! I love Soulbright Flamekin too and have been seriously trying to find him a spot for a while. Need for Speed is a great card but I haven't been struggling too much for haste sources and would play stuff like Lovisa Coldeyes over it for fun and flavor.

Tbh i totally missed the haste on Lovisa Coldeyes. That's so much better than I thought! I should find a spot for her. She'd go very well with my snow covered mountains.
I run more of the damage doublers, and some hate Blood Moon. But that's pretty meta dependent. Its got to the point where I only have maybe 2 turns to win or the boardstate/control gets too much for me to overcome. So Soulbright Flamekin helps here. it makes Hostility much better, effectively giving 7 creatures trample for 6<>. maybe sub for bloodfire?

I assume Soul-Scar Mage is included as a way to deal with indestructible creatures, but it seems like he might cause problems when trying to burn everything.

He does nombo with Repercussion but thats the only real problem. Murdering indestructible creatures is pretty sweet too. The other main reason hes in there is because hes a sweet T1 to play into a Sword of the Animist or something else to really get gas at the start of the game.

Eternal,
What do you think of Mask of Memory over Infiltration Lens? I find that with the Afflict 3 and the Lens, Neheb never gets blocked(unless he's seriously buffed), making the Lens useless most of the time. On the other hand, Neheb with the Mask on almost always gets blocked, making it less useful. Thoughts?

FenIsABasicSwamp says... #16
The potential upside of the infiltration lens where you draw 10+ cards from multiple blockers is too great an upside for me. And making him de facto unblockable to get that general damage in is equally fine with me. I dont see how thats a bad thing. Mask of memory is just a bad card that feels bad to me with little upside either way.

I am pretty surprised no one mentioned ma boi Balefire Dragon. Goes hand in hand with furnace and repercussion especially :D

Youre not wrong Rivenor, but Repercussion is the only card that helps Balefire contribute to the pver all gameplan and frequently this deck is trying to win before everyone hs developed a significant board presence. I have realized that I really need to keep the creature count low to avoid shooting myself in the foot with big sweepers.

Hey Eternal!
I am considering replacing Chandra, Flamecaller with Jaya Ballard in my build. While the draw isn't as good necessarily, she seems over all more useful, especially the ultimate. Your thoughts?
Also This gem from the BattleBond spoilers:
Will probably replace my Reforge the Soul(as Wheel of fortune is too expensive). Thought you'd like to see it if you haven't already!
Also have you ever tried out Outpost Siege? I see a lot of people rave about it but I haven't tried it.

May i ask on your opinion on Koth of the Hammer, more specifically if he is underperforming in this deck and that is the reason you are not running him?
May 31, 2018 4:04 a.m.
FenIsABasicSwamp says... #22
Deadlybiscuit Koth is a card you want for a slower deck where you might get lots of mountains out. Untapping a mountain isn’t good enough ramp and as a creature it’s not likely enough to hit for damage that its worth a slot. And besides you’ll more than likely kill it yourself with a mass damage spell. Everything needs to be a lot more immediate in a Neheb deck imo and your walkers need to be drawing your cards or dealing damage reliably.

EternalBrewmaster I see your point, i'll probably switch him out once i have collected all the cards for the deck. I'm going for a more voltron approach than you, but i'd like to let you know that your decklist helped me a lot when creating my list.

Thanks Deadlybiscuit! I'm really glad to hear that. Mine has actually morphed a bit more into a Voltron strategy lately; I just haven't updated the list in a while.

i love the idea tho i think the cost of the deck is a little much but that may be cause of the foiling idk and a non-early agrro red deck nice XD

I think what he means is it can win out of nowhere?
