Oblation is a great option. Spell Crumple is good too.

Maybe add Banishing Light because it's another piece of retargetable removal?

This deck has too much control and not enough threats or win conditions ... IMHO, stealing creatures is not a win-con, it depends too much on the decks of others.

You need to balance control with adding pressure to the game. Otherwise games are boring and stall if the only plan your deck has is to stop or slow down other players.

You need need to edit. For example, what is Muddle the Mixture searching for via transmute? Look at your options!!! The fault some people make when making Ephara decks is focusing on the card draw. Sure, it is a nice thing, but it won't carry a deck to victory on its own.

July 26, 2014 3:14 a.m.

Bowtiebro Dude, it's not an Ephara deck, pay attention!!! I have a Brago deck that is very similar to this and it is quite dominant... It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

bowtiebro I agree with you almost 100% so garrettlstewart, follow your own advice.

I do think your tone of writing came off rather presumptuous, so please be careful about that next time.

Alizer313 and I regularly play EDH, and I have faced this deck numerous times, and this is what I have noticed: Brago's wins tend to be slow and grindy and torturous. A win is a win, but....

I can deal with the slow and grindy wins. But a lot of other players can't. That's the exact reason we asked him to change the name to "The flying doucheman" (it was actually somewhere between coercing and twisting his arm actually).

Where I disagree with you is when you say that stealing creatures is not a win con. It is a win con, and it allows the deck to "take it easy" on newer players, which is also a great opportunity for this deck to create social ties, rather than break them.

These are the cards that I suggest adding in order to generate faster wins, and therefore, games that everyone can enjoy: Day of the Dragons , Master of Waves , Evangel of Heliod , Myr Battlesphere , True Conviction , and Cathars' Crusade .

(TL;DR bowtiebro, good suggestions except for the bit about stealing creatures and next time be more polite; garrettlstewart, be open to making your decks nicer without losing any of the strength and also be more polite; and Alizer313, considering fast win cons will make your deck nicer without losing any strength, and those are the cards I like for your deck.)

Woah, everyone, chill, please. I appreciate the feedback on all fronts, but let's keep things polite.

Grindy and slow was never a problem for me, as was playing the deck aggressively. Azorius colors are known for being slower and more controlling anyways. This deck is for a more competitive meta, and I am currently satisfied with my build, flaws and all. Yes, I take time to win games, yes, people often find the duel excruciating. No, it's not really bothering me because...

I want to keep this deck on-par with my desires to make it competitive. That being said, I don't want to add something that could weaken the deck.

bowtiebro: I am a control player to the core. I've never encountered a deck where I felt there was too much control. I agree with your remark on stealing creature being a loose way to win, which is why I concentrate on the other aspects of the deck. Stalling and pressure really help this deck, and have led to numerous opponents conceding. The Muddle the Mixture is a tutor used mostly to grab Cyclonic Rift , but I've also been known to grab Snapcaster Mage , Unexpectedly Absent , or Lightning Greaves . Last note, I did find the tone of your comment a little off-putting.

garrettlstewart: I appreciate your support.

MagicalHacker: Day of the Dragons seems a little silly to me, Master of Waves seems weak and counter-productive... And so on. I suppose I could test Cathars' Crusade , but I don't know about it either. The rest of these don't seem to convey the deck I'm building. While I could add these in to speed up the deck, what would I be sacrificing? What cards do I say good-bye to? You know me bro, I like my control, and I don't like to take them out of my deck.

I want to finish my lengthy comment and say thank you to everyone who has commented and given their two-cents. You guys are awesome.

In response... (lol jk)

Unfortunately, Day of the Dragons does not work the way I thought it would, so I apologize for the weak suggestion there.

I don't know if this is the reason why you say Master of Waves seems counter productive, but state-based effects (like the fact that the elementals are 1/0s when Master of Waves is not on the field) are not checked until effects have completely resolved. So the game will never see the elementals as 1/0s if you flicker Master of the Waves.

Yeah I think people conceding is how I've won about half of my matches with this deck... Once Brago and a few other ETB permanents are out, people often see that they have no chance.

Whispersilk Cloak to get in always and protect Brago? Also I have a Roon of the Hidden Realm deck I play with friends and does very well and if you want to know some good flicker targets let me know.

Jace's Mindseeker or better yet Mnemonic Wall . With all those instants, best to have a second way to recur them... once you can do it with Cyclonic Rift it's pretty much game over as you can board wipe your opponents every single turn with Brago, the wall or archaeomancer. and the cyclonic rift

This deck looks like a lot of fun! A friend of mine is just starting to build a Brago deck. Hope you don't mind if I show this to him. If you find the time, please look at mine. It isn't a Brago deck but you seem to be a guy who doesn't mind getting a lot of hate so you will probably have some good ideas on what I can do to improve my deck Apocalypse Project . As for my suggestions:

Lavinia of the Tenth - awesome ETB ability. Will surely piss off a ton of people. Say goodbye to your friends.

Spine of Ish Sah - costs quite a bit to get it into play but once its in, its going to be a lot of fun.

Deadeye Navigator - mini Brago? Lol.

Cloudshift - Just in case Brago or any other creature needs to be saved.

Exclusion Ritual is good for targeted removal if a bit more expensive.

there are plenty of etb scry efects like Cryptic Annelid

having a way to get brago doubestrike is fun. Ajani, Caller of the Pride also adds a +1/+1 each turn.

I like your deck. Glen Elendra Archmage is a card I forgot to put into my deck but I have one floating around that I could (should) put in. +1 from me.

I made my own Brago deck from scratch, check it out. Maybe there will be some cards there that you like.

Hey, love the deck and I'm thinking of making one based around this Commander! Have you thought of putting in a Medomai the Ageless for an infinite turn loop? Blinking it out with Brago, King Eternal makes it count as a new creature, letting you attack with it again on your extra turn!

December 4, 2014 10:51 p.m.

griffstick says... #18

Medomai the Ageless in no way possible in any circumstances does he get to attack on extra turns. It says it right on the card... "Medomai the Ageless can't attack on extra turns"... All you can do is stack turns with him like by giving him double strike and extra attack phases. Then you would get a bunch of extra turns on the the stack. But still he can't attack on any of the extra turns you get.

How do you feel about owls? Spire Owl, Augury Owl, and Sage Owl make you set up your draws every turn. Another good one is Exclusion Ritual. I also really like Spine of Ish Sah, but it is kinda mana intensive for what ot does

Have you ever thought about a Mulldrifter? It draws two cards upon entering it just seems useful. Useful creatures might include the two primodials. One is a spelltwine and the other is a Path to Exile. Just stuff to consider.

I recommend Inquisitor Exarch and Altar of the Brood. gg if you pull off the Strionic Resonator combo. Aside from that, Cloudform has worked wonders for me. That and the Sower of Temptation/Gilded Drake combo for permanent creature stealing.

All you need is Archaeomancer. :P Overloaded Cyclonic Rift every turn is almost just as bad.
