Sideboard

Creature (1)

Enchantment (2)

Instant (7)

Sorcery (3)

Going to try and make a Standard deck that I can play until Zendikar comes out. I'm not looking to spend much on this deck, so the land base won't get there but I think I can make it work with out it.

The base of the deck is to get a good amount of thopters out, and use them to win.

If you guys have any suggestions on what I should consider, please feel free to throw it out there. I also need help with my sideboard. Thanks everyone!

Hey guys! I participated in my first FNM with this deck tonight, and I felt I would share how I did without going into too much depth. But I should add that the people who play at my store aren't the best, nor are some of the decks. It's a very laid back store, and not competitive that I play at.

So, overall I went 3-1-0 with the deck.

Round 1: Mardu Control (Won 2-1)

I don't play Standard at all, so I wasn't sure what to expect. This list was running some weird cards like Mogis, God of Slaughter, and it didn't seem to really do much else. If I was able to get my creatures out, and some sort of field I was golden. I lost game one, because I'm not very smart and decided to just shuffle the deck while it was ordered in cmc, cause I was looking at my curve and deck prior to. So, game one I just had a terrible hand cause everything was bundled. Game two I only got two lands, but won with Hangarback Walker and Ghostfire Blade. Game three was closer, but having thopters produced every turn doesn't really make Mogis that big of a threat.

Round 2: BW Warriors (2-0)

I don't really understand what this deck was trying to do. Essentially, he didn't play a whole lot, what he did play got killed by Reclusive Artificer and I just had an easier time making my way through the match-up.

Round 3: Esper Control (2-1)

This was a pretty different match-up for me. In Game One, I was able to just play Ensoul Artifact on Darksteel Citadel while he didn't do too much, and I just swung my way to victory. Game two was a lot different, as I had an okay start, and he had a better start. This match went on for about 35 minutes, where I couldn't push through, and when he would get rid of my board, I was able to regrow it with Thopter Spy Network and the Citadels. He ended up edging out, because I was able to use Dragonlord Ojutai to dig for a Crux of Fate which saved him. Game three was a bit different, as I had a faster start then him, but with the help of Shrapnel Blast and Pia and Kiran Nalaar I was able to burn my way to victory after an all out attack on my last turn after time was called. But it was a really close match-up that would have ended in a draw, if I didn't have just enough mana to burn him.

Round 4: Mardu Dragons (0-2)

How do I put this.... My hands weren't the best, but that's not why I lost. I had okay starts, I did what I needed to do. But as I found out today, in an air battle Dragons > Thopters. There isn't a whole lot three 1/1 Thopters are going to be able to do against three Stormbreath Dragon and a Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury. So... Basically, I lost to more way of dealing with my stuff, and by him having bigger creatures than me.

Bonus Round! (I played against my friend's GB Elves deck he played tonight)

Basically, I was able to win cause I was able to play more aggressively than him, and had evasion over his dudes. Though we only played one game, as he went to EDH after that.

So, I hope you guys have as good of luck as I did with this list, and if you have any tips on how I maybe able to beat the Mardu Dragons deck I lost to, please let me know!
