Sorry to spam so many messages, I really love your decks though! Do you have a card you would recommend to substitute Back to Basics for? Until I pick up a copy of it, I'm thinking of running something like Curiosity for more draw, or Swiftfoot Boots for more protection, but I know these aren't ideal substitutes. I'm not opposed to running another stax piece in its place, so I'm open to suggestions if you have any! I toyed around with running Quicksilver Fountain but it seemed like it would be too slow.
PS Congrats on graduating!!

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor: I really should be running Chasm Skulker, no disagreement. Just don't know what I can cut to add it...I used to run more infect, but eventually I decided I wanted to make that a less common win-con, so just Inkmoth Nexus remains. I also used to run Disallow, but I never wanted to hold up the 3 mana for a slightly-better Cancel (Stifle is different, because it can be cast to neuter a T1 fetchland). Gigantoplasm is another card I'd love to run, but I don't find I have enough I want to copy in my current meta...Again, thank you for your comments!!
gdm1989: Heh, while I love Hope of Ghirapur in general (especially with Gift of Immortality), I don't know how good it is here since I can't reuse it in these colors...I suppose I could run it with Academy Ruins...
Crivaro: I ended up cutting Cloak and Dagger because it makes my commander blockable :( I really wish Tetsuko was a 2/1 so I could boost her power...And I LOVE the idea of Bubble Matrix here, kicking myself for not thinking of that!! Definitely needs to find a slot - thoughts on cuts?
Freyalise50: Honestly? I am running a few evasive creatures that don't need my commander, but I still balk at equipment that make my creatures specifically blockable. Moreover, my curve is low enough that I rarely have trouble holding up mana...
Doctorlobo89: Heh. Cute. I do like that a lot - but it's too many moving parts in THIS deck. In a Chisei, Heart of Oceans deck, though, that could be totally viable!!
LuxCannonator: Riptide Entrancer is a little 1-shot for my tastes. I mean, it does act as a 3-mana steal effect, but Control Magic is my go-to for that effect, and Control Magic doesn't have summoning sickness or die to kill spells...
Color_pie14: Good thinking!
jakethewhale007: This deck performs great in 3-player, and well in 4-player if you draw a decent hand. Your counterspells do less, but as long as you maintain enough draw effects you should be able to survive. I win 95% of 2-player games, 80% of 3-player games, and probably 60% of 4-player games. Those are all definitely above average, but the deck gets less overpowering with more players, alas. And Fatespinner was in where for a while, but it's more of a sideboard here (since most opponents just skipped combat, as you guessed). I'd like to put it back in someday. I think that if you want another disruption-ish piece to replace Back to Basics, I'd take a page from Crivaro's book and test Bubble Matrix - that sounds amazing here. (And thanks for the congratulations!!)
JaceSeeker: The +1/+1 is a downside for this deck, but I've been tempted to run its ancestor Curiosity...
Thank you all, once again, for your insight and comments! This deck wouldn't be as strong without your input.

Would something like Bloodforged Battle-Axe be a consideration?

onehitterquiter: I did run it for a while. Honestly, though, the power boost over time wasn't worth the mana - I'd usually rather hold up the mana or cast spells rather than paying to equip. Certainly not a bad card, but I had too many cards and cuts had to happen.

Daedalus19876, that makes sense. If you ran it alongside Hammer of Nazahn that'd be neat, but definitely situational.

onehitterquiter: I also try to avoid overlap between my decks when I can, and my "equipment shenanigans" deck is my Judgment Day: Avacyn the Purifier EDH | *PRIMER* deck haha. But still, that's a good idea!

Daedalus19876, I think you’ll find that In Bolas's Clutches is probably better than control magic in most cases, as in commander the legendary thing is almost inconsequential, the mana cost is not TOO much, and Control Magic only takes control of creatures.

Color_pie14: Fair enough, but Control Magic is a more direct comparison to Riptide Entrancer (the card under consideration when I mentioned Control Magic).

Aggressively costed, well curved, and a fantastically well thought-out primer. When I saw this card spoiled, I KNEW someone would build a good commander deck around it. I guess that person is you!
If I could give +2, I would.

This deck honestly makes me want to build an aggro blue.

I was just wondering what purpose Raven Guild Master serves. Is it a mill strategy? Because when I compare this card to something like Phyrexian Digester, it seems like digester puts an opponent on a 5 turn clock to infect. To mill someone out, guild master would almost certainly take a couple turns longer. What purpose does he serve? It's a cool card that I'd like to run, it's just hard for me to justify the slot over a different card. Really liking the deck so far!

I was thinking of another card in place of Raven Guild Master could be Balshan Beguiler, which would give you the ability to control the draws of an opponent to a small extent.

sweet deck. would love to build this. +1'ed. I don't get how this is a good deck to have thing in the ice included? I would prefer Imprisoned in the Moon over sigil of sleep. Not really feeling ovalchase dragster either so probably cut the dragster over the sigil of sleep? good brew!

Dowsing dagger is great ramp i'd recommend for this style of deck.
Siren stormtamer and teferi's veil are great protection cards.
How useful is citanul flute? sounds mediocre.

If can be used in this deck Elbrus, the Binding Blade Flip watch them cry

Yeesh, I've gotten behind on answering comments here!
Regoober and Doctorlobo89: Aww, I'm flattered :D You should try building this - it's pretty darn fun and strong!
jakethewhale007: Honestly, Raven Guild Master is there to mess with combo decks. I keep hitting people and exiling Food Chains :3 It is one of the weaker cards here, but people's reactions are too amusing for me to stop playing it.
ohmless: Sigil of Sleep is honestly amazing here, and Ovalchase Dragster is an unblockable 6 damage per turn. They've both proved to be pretty astonishing in this list. Imprisoned in the Moon does seem like a good addition, however.
alucardvanguard: I'm not confident in my ability to connect with Dowsing Dagger Flip (given that it boosts their power AND toughness). Citanul Flute is actually pretty good, since I can sink mana into it in the late game if it turns out I didn't need to use a counterspell, and it always gets me the creature I need.
gdm1989: I'm afraid it can't be used :( its color identity is black.

I've been having a tough time on picking a blue commander because none of them fit my style. However, this one may of just won me over!

You should do a deck on Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow I would imagine they could go well together.

Love the deck, would love to see your thoughts on my Tetsuko deck as well.
Also notice a lot of people mentioning Bubble Matrix which is good, but what about Collective Restraint seems better. Don't have to worry about getting attacked if they can't pay the mana to attack you.

Themysteriousone: I'll try and take a look tonight :) I'm not really a fan of Collective Restraint in a mono-color deck, but depending on meta Web of Inertia could do the trick...

woah that card is sick! I might look into adding that one! Also what do you think of the new Mummering Mystic I think it's name is coming for Ravinca? Making a 1/1 bird for every instant or sorcery you cast. You think it's worth a slot ?

Themysteriousone: I might include it, but it's pretty heavily out-classed by Docent of Perfection Flip...

Have you considered Curious Obsession? Its a great card in decks like this.
