Thrasios 4-Color Land Destruction

Commander / EDH*

Sideboard

Maybeboard

This deck is designed to lock everyone out and kill all lands to complete the game. If anyone figures out what your plan is, you'll be target number one.

This list is cards I own, be advised this is not as tuned as it should be. The strict competitive replacements are in the Maybeboard.

Thrasios is partnering with Bruse just for colors. I have a lot more fun playing Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis, but the bros don't feel as competitive. It gives everyone else more cards to work with. I'd love to hear some opinions, drop comments!

I don't like playing this type of deck outside of competitive matches. The whole point of this deck is to keep everyone else from playing their deck. It's a worthy cause in cEDH, but it's irritating and absolutely oppressive in casual. It does make for interesting matches where there is some interaction. Players fight hard when land destruction is a gameplan

The number one target when playing this deck are mono-colored decks. Black decks are especially difficult. Mono-red goblins or Purphuros are also extremely nasty. Those should always be your first kills.

The end-game is just creature damage. Lock everyone out of mana, then just start picking away to the finish line. Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle is an ok combo in this deck. It does have some risks because it requires Prismatic Omen, World Shaper, Splendid Reclamation, or Scapeshift to go off.

A note on Tutors. Your game plan is really nasty. You have a huge advantage if you can hide your plan until you kill everything and rebuild yourself. As soon as people know what you're up to, they'll start holding lands in their hand and saving up their counter spells while throwing big damage your way.Courser of Kruphix and all the tutors I have listed reveal the card you searched for. Be very mindful of when you use them. Leyline of the Void and Vedalken Orrery an help you tutor on your end step, then play stuff then or on your main phase.

Updates:

I'm pulling As Foretold, it's almost always an empty card in my hand.Thawing Glaciers has been slow in every deck I've used it in. I have enough basic lands in this deck but it doesn't make a mana. Thats a lot of downside in competitive.Lotus Cobra is out for now. I don't need another creature and it's bad when I have all my colors. I don't feel bad keeping it but Impending Disaster does better work.I pulled Prismatic Omen and replaced it with Blood Moon. An early lock that doesn't kill my lands is stupid powerful.

I added Vedalken Orrery and Leyline of the Void. Being sneaky, hiding land destruction cards from opponents, these are things worth doing. Other similar substitutes could be Counterspell etc.Omnath, Locus of Rage is coming in as a closer. It's hard to deal with because of all the lands the deck can ETB on any given turn. Avenger of Zendikar would be ok too.

I'm still not running Scapeshift. It's super powerful. Include if you can but not without Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle. I've found that I only want the card a few times doing a match, and it doesn't always help things move faster. It really makes the other "play land from graveyard" cards very important. I'm replacing it with Supreme Verdict.
