The moment I saw Thrasta, Tempest's Roar I knew that I was going to make a deck for it. This deck is looking to combo off as soon as we play Thrasta, Tempest's Roar. This deck is trying to be very competitive, so if you have any other recommendations drop them down below!

The main goal of this deck is to create infinite green mana for creatures with Food Chain + Thrasta, Tempest's Roar . Because Thrasta, Tempest's Roar gets cheaper every time you play it, you can always sacrifice him for 13, send him to the command zone, then replay him. We have a couple of payoffs with this so let's break it down.

  1. The mana itself is good by itself, but it doesn't immediately win you the game. Cards like Greater Good, Garruk's Uprising, and Elemental Bond all allow us to draw our whole library finding a win-con.

  2. Because at this point we have our whole deck in hand, and infinite mana for creatures we should be able to pull off a win. With Concordant Crossroads we can give all of our creature haste, and then play every single creature in our deck. The main biggie out of the bunch is Craterhoof Behemoth. The moment you play this all you have to do is swing at each of your opponents and finish it out!

  3. The next combo uses the Food Chain + Thrasta, Tempest's Roar combo with Walking Ballista. This one is pretty simple, you just pump all of your mana into Walking Ballista and one-shot the table!

  4. This wouldn't truly be a storm deck if we didn't have a storm count payoff. Aetherflux Reservoir allows us to get gain infinite life, thus allowing us to blast all of our opponents with it.

  5. I won't get into all of the combos with Temur Sabertooth because there are A LOT, but basically it allows you to create infinite mana with the mana elves as long as your creatures have haste.

We have a bunch of cards outside of combos that help us pull our combos off successfully.

  • We need a lot of mana in order to cast our commander if we cant build up a high storm count, thus why every card in the deck is relatively cheap. In addition to the cheap mana cost, we have a lot of ways to produce extra mana. Cheap creatures such as Llanowar Elves can theoretically give you 4 mana to cast Thrasta, Tempest's Roar if you have a card like Concordant Crossroads.

  • Getting our combo countered by those annoying blue players is our biggest concern in this deck, so we have a series of protection spells. We have creatures like Allosaurus Shepherd as well as Destiny Spinner to protect us. We also have spells like Veil of Summer and Heroic Intervention

  • We also have to have tutors in order to pull off one of our combos. Cards like Worldly Tutor and Natural Order allow us to pull out those combos as fast as possible.

  • Thrasta, Tempest's Roar has great potential to be a very competitive commander. Obviously, the card was just announced so I'm sure this deck will only get better as more people have time to brew it. Also because it is new I have not been able to playtest it, so I don't know how well it will fare against the Demonic Consultation + Thassa's Oracle decks. I think Thrasta, Tempest's Roar has great potential, and I hope all of you can help me on this journey of making the perfect primer for him!
It has been a LONG time sense I updated this deck but I have gone through and totally revamped the deck. The combos and game plan is the same, just with more fine tuning. LMK what you think!
