Enchantment (2)

So, this is my current Oloro EDH build. If everything runs well, you should end up at about 70 life with 10 cards in hand as early as turn 8.

The deck's strategy is pretty much always the same, but the actual order of the steps is going to change depending on your hand:

  1. Get additional card draw. (Well of Lost Dreams, Phyrexian Arena, Necropotence, etc)

  2. Make it undesirable to attack you (Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, etc)

  3. Further restrict what your opponents are capable of actually doing (counterspells, Overburden, Aura of Silence)

  4. Make your lifetotal unreachable (Rhox Faithmender, Divinity of Pride, etc)

Once these things have been set, you will be in a prime position to sit back and laugh at your opponents as your life total approaches MAX_INTEGER. The deck has a number of odds and ends ways to win:

  1. Mill. Not my favorite way of winning, especially in a 99-card format with lots of recursion, but it's there if you have to. Keep using Nephalia Drownyard while supplementing yourself with Elixir of Immortality. Only problem is that you draw cards so quickly that you may kill yourself first.

  2. Draw a bunch of cards and dump them with Sickening Dreams to kill everyone but yourself instantly.

  3. Creature aggro. Highly unlikely way to win, but this deck does have a lot of large flying creatures if needs be Bloodgift Demon, Divinity of Pride, Luminarch Ascension. It also has Karlov of the Ghost Council who can gain flying with Elspeth and go wreck people. Remember that you don't have to kill them all at once. This deck loves taking things slow.

  4. Drain them out. Vizkopa Guildmage, Sanguine Bond, Obzedat, Chalice of Death and somewhat oloro all present efficient ways of forcing life loss.

  5. My personal favorite infinite combo. Exquisite Blood + Vizkopa Guildmage/Sanguine Bond. Gain life from one of your myriad of ways and suddenly tick everyone down.

There are a couple of important things to realize about playing this deck. First, you will almost never play Oloro on turn 6. He is only there to stay in the command zone as an engine for card draw, and only comes out after you've set up a working machine and want to get more cards in hand. And second, take things slowly. You don't have to win right now. You have the resources and the life to wait this one out.

I need a bit of help fitting in better win cons. I used to have a more aggressive version of this deck that focused more on life gain, but I've decided to take it more in a control approach. As it is right now, I feel like I'm stuck between those two decks and haven't fully committed to one or the other. Suggestions are wanted.
