How about Reverberate? You can copy a Pact or a Breach/Entrance, or use it to protect the combo by copying and targeting a counterspell.

@AndWelcomeToTheJam Reverberate is interesting, but it isn't very practical. Paying 7 for my big turn means I can't do it until turns 4-5, and by then a lot of decks will have won or established control over the game.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

And did you mean Burning-Tree Shaman shuts down twin? Or is it really BTE?

@Hallowed_Titan Thanks for the +1! Also you are entirely correct, it's Burning-Tree Shaman. I just forgot which was which when I was typing up the description and such.

This deck... All I can say is that it definitely makes a dramatic entrance. Seriously though this is great.

@Green_Ghost Thanks for the +1. I've been enjoying playing the deck, and a lot of people just don't know how to deal with Worldspine Wurm or Progenitus

I'm so afraid of creature based ramp in modern. Pyroclasm and Anger of the Gods scare me. This seems like a great idea though. Turn three Progenitus is ridiculous.
What's the fastest you think you could get to nine mana?
November 23, 2015 1:56 a.m.
lemmingllama says... #10
@MindAblaze I do agree, but we can typically push through their stuff if they are just trying to kill our creatures early. Thragtusk and Raging Ravine laugh in the faces of Pyroclasm.
As for getting to nine mana, a turn 1 land and Arbor Elf, turn 2 land, Utopia Sprawl, then any combination of two more Utopia Sprawls, Devoted Druids, or Arbor Elfs means that we can play a land on turn 3 and be at 9 mana. This is somewhat unlikely, but it can happen. I've really just made my ramp count to 5, and if I get higher than that then it's fortunate.

I was just thinking about Tooth and Nail but that's a different shell I think. I like a good old fashioned Timmy deck. +1

I do so,etching very similar but with Quicksilver Amulet for repetitive and reusable fun.

@MindAblaze I was trying to make a different deck, this is basically a faster Tooth and Nail deck that loses a bit of consistency going for the combo, but it also has a much better value plan using the Thragtusks. The instant speed is also great when facing off against a lot of blue decks (all of my meta...)
@demonicgrizzly I do love Quicksilver Amulet, but in this deck we only need one fatty to win the game. So rather than spending 8 mana on a creature, we can spend five for the same basic effect. I have designed amulet decks before, and they normally do really well in black when you can use Rune-Scarred Demon to good effect.

I like this deck, I may style a deck like this with a few personal changes, great decklist! I can't wait to test it out!

@nocsha Great. If you do get some playtesting done with it, feel free to tell me how it went and maybe also link me to the decklist. This is still a work in progress, so all suggestions and feedback are welcome.

I loved this deck when you posted it, I tried it out at one of my FNMs and did very well! (Second place, sadly I got hurt against a four color deck).
Thank you for making this deck!

@nocsha I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've been changing it up a little to test out all the different variations and see which is best.
Also I absolutely love your version with it's copies of Protean Hulk. I might have to try that out in this build, it seems like pure value.

I hope you won't mind I read through your comments again, subbing out my oozes for Coursers, it's a great idea, it means we fetch for free and play shocks at half price! (And if both somehow are out oh boy)

lemmingllama says... #19
@nocsha Feel free, the deck is public. Also Scavenging Ooze just underperformed for me, so it was easy to cut for Courser. Also the feel good scenario where you Summoner's Pact and then find a land after the pact so you don't have to play the one in your hand!
January 1, 2016 5:58 p.m.
3-1! Sadly I lost my very first match because I accidentally my Summoner's Pact in game 3. I did have a feel good turn 4 Win, dropping a wurm, then the next turn swinging and throwing it! Now I sleep, but I really feel this deck has some teeth!

lemmingllama says... #21
@nocsha Good stuff! Honestly, Summoner's Pact is probably the hardest part of the deck. But a 3-1 record is good. I've just been playing pick-up matches rather than full FNMs, but my record is 17-10 with the deck.

I know there isn't much room but how about Fires of Yavimaya? That'll allow you to drop your creatures and attack even faster (assuming you don't win on turns 3 and 4
January 12, 2016 8:33 a.m.
lemmingllama says... #23
@Jack-Frost I'm fairly certain that Fires of Yavimaya isn't modern legal. However, I likely wouldn't run it anyways. We can endstep our creatures, so it's almost as if they have haste already.
Thanks for the suggestion though!
January 12, 2016 8:48 a.m.
Jack-Frost says... #24
Wow, you're right. When did that drop out of legality? I was sure it was legal. But good point. I thought dramatic and breach were sorceries.
Update: I just checked and while tappedout is marking it as banned, it isn't on any ban list. It seems to still be legal and I can't imagine why it would be banned anyway.
January 12, 2016 8:58 a.m. Edited.
lemmingllama says... #25
@Jack-Frost I just checked, it was never legal. It was printed in Invasion and some supplemental products, but never in a modern Standard legal set.
Anyways, Mass Hysteria would likely be better if I wanted haste, but I don't need the haste right now
dragonestea says... #1
Yeah, that's probably the right choice. Arbor Elf seems better than Birds of Paradise here. Like I said, you don't need a whole lot of fixing, which is what Birds is good for, but elf definitely ramps harder if you've got a Utopia Sprawl.
