What about Spidersilk Net as a SB? Would help against flyers, is a 0 cost spell, and all around pump for your creatures.

I really like this deck idea. It seems like a lot of fun. I have to wonder about a few things though.....

I know the curve tops out at 4, but 20 land seems light. I think you need at least 22... maybe even 23.

Profaner of the Dead is awesome- why not run more of him? At least 3- I think I'd run the full play set. He combo's really well with Jeskai Barricade. He's also the only guy who can do any damage if you can't find the Assault Formation. And I think that's a bit of a problem as well. I know it's unlikely to not find a Formation, but it could happen, and if someone plays one flyer, you're in trouble. Or an unblockable guy or any threat- one Heir of the Wilds wrecks this deck.

Also, there seem to be a number of random cards that might be better served as some of the other cards in the deck- for example: why run Brave the Sands? It's a deck of walls- why do you need to block more than one guy? I mean, Vigilance is nice and all, but there have to be better cards, right? That could be 2 more Profaner's, 2 more Commune's, even 2 more Anticipate (which is another one of these random cards- it's a great card- but another one I think there should be more than 1 of).

And with the exploit going on, as well as the instants and sorc's you have, you might want to find a place for Treasure Cruise. Could be really strong.

It feels like the core of this deck is solid, but I think the supporting cards need to be refined. Just a few more of each of the cards you have and getting to a more consistent draw will help this deck a lot. Just my thoughts- of course. :-)

Thanks for taking the time to analyze my deck! I agree with you on a few points and disagree with others. 1) the land base is too light. I did poorly at FNM due to mana problems. Although I didn't have the Caryatids at the time. 2) I want to add another Profaner of the Dead, there were only 2 available at my shop when I went, and I use this as my reference for my actual deck. 3) I don't think that Heir of the Wilds is what i need here. Its ferocious is based on power and I don't have any! I just got myself a playset of Hornet Nests and I thought they would fit the bill for flying defense and creature removal as well. 4) Brave the Sands has pulled me out of the fire more than once. Although I can run the deck well without it. It is one of the cards I have been considering cutting in favor of more consistency.

I can totally understand not having the resources available at the LGS. You might want to consider TCGPlayer.com- if you're not familiar, it's a site that sells cards, but it's from other players- and they're all competing against each other so the prices can be reasonable.

And lol- I wasn't saying you needed Heir of the Wilds, I was saying if someone played one against you it could be serious trouble.

I do like the Hornet Nest. You might want to consider swapping out a Tactics or the Shape the Sands for Dromoka's Command. That will give you lots of utility, but gives you the fight option when you have the Nest out... and the other modes are really good too. I just think you need some form of win condition other then the Formation...

Nice build! +1 from me :-)

I would seriously consider adding an extra Sylvan Caryatid. It can block, has hexproof and gives all required colors. Having only 21 land this is most welcome. Any mana screw is one too much. And this card is never a deaddraw as it can block too. With Assault Formation this only supports having a playset active.

Enjoy!

Looks good! You might want to consider a flyer like Monastery Flock just so you can block flyers. Dragonlord Ojutai is also a great blocker since you can keep him untapped and not have to worry about spot removal. Profaner is a fun card!

Nice deck, I like it +1! HAve you considered going up to 4 Sylvan Caryatid, 4 Hornet Nest and 4 Jeskai Barricade for more consistency?

swkelly89 It's nice of you to let me know you +1 my deck, but it would be even nicer if you actually hit the button and upvoted it!

I can't see what could be better for this deck. So I only can give a +1 .

Can you fit a singleton Dragonlord Dromoka in? It's pretty slow, and costs a lot, but think of the possibilities. With enough mana, you could beat Atarka.

As much as I love these decks I simply destroy them with enchantment hate. But I haven't played one that looks this good I think.

You could probably drop a few Assault Formation as more than one is a bit of a dead card and replace for Commune with the Gods

Anyone who has played this deck knows they don't want opponents to have Assault Formation in their hand. Especially not more than one copy after side boarding.

I couldn't think of ever playing 1-2 copies.

May 26, 2015 10:21 p.m.

I think this would benefit greatly from some number of Anticipate. It's a great card for consistency and end of turn plays. Good luck and awesome deck otherwise!

May 31, 2015 11:29 p.m.

Also, you forgot about one of the best creatures you have available: Wall of Frost. It's mana cost is a little tough, but a 7/7 for 3 passes the vanilla test and then some. It also can open your opponent up for an attack because their guys will just sit there tapped as you wreck face.

I think you could pull Hornet Nest, but I'm not sure. I wouldn't run more than 2. You have enough mana fixing though that I think you're good on the casting cost.

I like Wall of Frost in here. Not all that positive on mainboard. Definitely see it in sideboard. It can't attack is the main thing.

If you are running Hornet Nest mainboard I would consider more Dromoka's Command. Sounds like a nasty combo to me. Otherwise, it does suck not having Hornet on board and you're combo enchantment not operating.

May 31, 2015 11:55 p.m.

That's where Assault Formation really shines. It can allow walls to attack, making Wall of Frost a giant 7/7 attacker with a small mana investment.

Ah, yes. I remember now. That card isn't half bad. I still think the deck's a gimmick. But a very powerful one at that--I will admit. :D

Scourge of Skola Vale could be good in this deck. It's effect takes advantage of your creatures high toughness and converts it into +1/+1 counters.

Dragonman39 says... #23

BigFace, this deck is most certainly a gimmick! But it's oh so fun to play and as you said... powerful! zradka, Scourge of Skola Vale is a fantastic card in the right deck, but I don't think this is the right engine for it. I have a R/U/G deck that employs Scourge and some other fun tricks to steal your opponents creatures and sac them.

On paper this does look decently competitive. Especially against aggro. What are your matches like?

Also, enchantment hate after boarding. Is the deck finished or is there other things you have?

June 2, 2015 11:59 p.m.

Dragonman39 says... #25

My matches go pretty well against aggro. I can put out enough toughness quickly enough to stall the aggro to the point where I can control the game, or if I draw a lucky hand, I can out-aggro the aggro! I have gone 2-0 against 3 different RDW including my own Die Hard, Die Fast.... My sideboard against enchantment hate includes Kiora's Dismissal and counterspells. I usually don't even need them.
