And the excitement runs wild as Team Minotaurnado scores yet another amazing pick

Fun fact: we could have drafted pure mono white until this pack

Flamespeaker Adept seems like a very decent pick. His body is nice and if we get more scry he just get better and better.

Looks like we're leaning towards RW, which is fine by me. Blue seems to have dried up. I can't imagine that Heliod's Emissary is coming back but white seemed really open. I just hope we didn't convince anyone to go white after they saw that emissary

Yeah, Flamespeaker Adept is probably the right choice here. though i would concider the Wild Celebrants more, considering how much of a help they were to me when i drafted this set. nothing crushed my opponents quite so well as sideboarding him in, dropping him and crushing an Whip of Erebos or Bow of Nylea .
though, then again, i'm not sure we're far enough to pick something up that's really only good as sideboard tech.

Not the ox; we really don't have the bestow to make the darn thing useful.
I'd say the giant, but I don't know how well he plays in draft.

Human does seem like the best quality present among these vanillas. I'm game for the bear.

Last breath hits more creatures than not in this format
October 27, 2013 10:04 a.m.
Indeed it does. And the Act of Treason variant doesn't seem worth it. I'd go with Last Breath .
October 27, 2013 12:10 p.m.
I've actually been more happy with Portent of Betrayal than with Last Breath so far. I always seems to get the Last Breath to late where the impact isn't as good. And giving 4 life to your opponent has signed my doom more often than not. Maybe I'm just not lucky but I'm really more into the Act of Treason due to the amount of fatties that can be used as alpha strikers to flip the game.

I have a feeling we'll see more portents later, and last breath is actual removal. Portent can be good, but I think it'd be sideboard; I'd rather take a mainboard card than a sideboard.

I'm actually liking the Portent of Betrayal more than the Last Breath . It just seems like Last Breath wouldn't hit anything that actually needs to be removed, while I can definitely see Portent of Betrayal taking their biggest dude and swinging the game in our favor.

And I've actually seen people counter Last Breath with combat trick more often than I'd wish them to. It's quite easy to counter a Last Breath as opposed to a Portent of Betrayal
October 27, 2013 9:57 p.m.
Well it'd be nice if you guys voted officially. Statistically Last Breath hits more than 50% of creatures in this format. I do agree that the chances of seeing a big dude that has a couple creatures bestowed on it is tangible, but there's no way to turn that into card advantage or removal. If it wins us the game, awesome; otherwise, it doesn't do that much.
Please vote!

I'd obviously use Last Breath to remove something after they play their combat trick.

Alright, anyway with few times left and very little participation, I'd set my vote for the Last Breath we'll see how it goes.
I'll use my post to call here:
tigersfan774, pookypuppy6, Timekeeper, nemesis101. I know some of you have participated in previous pick but it's great to have everybody in each pick especially when they are tight as this one.

Normally I would lean more toward Portent of Betrayal , but Goody made a convincing argument. So:
and I'll hope we see some other portents (or, you know, actual useful options) in later packs.

Thought about it some more, and you've convinced me enough, Goody.
+1 Last Breath

I have no objections to the pegasus.
