Admittedly, Ephara's Warden is heavily overcosted (just look at Gideon's Lawkeeper ), but I think we can make use of it and keep taking the white.

I'd honestly rather have the basic land, but since we get as many of those as we want... I'll go with the Warden.

I saw Ephara's Warden being used pretty effectively in the pro tour draft, he was tapping down a Karametra's Acolyte . It can be useful and we can always board it in or out

Sorry I've missed a few picks. My internet has been down. My vote is for the Warden. I hope white stays open for the next pack.

Just because we have two days does not mean we should wait until the last minute to talk about it. Let's get discussion going.

Well then. Why couldn't we have gotten a rare like this in pack 1?
I would say that we want to go with white/blue (we do have a bit of support for that in the form of Nimbus Naiad , also many of the cards that got rotated around in the last couple picks there were blue) we should definitely pick Master of Waves . If we want to stay white/red, then the pick is Magma Jet .
I just don't don't know which one is better right now... I would almost want to say we stick to red since Master of Waves is a devotion trigger and most of the blue we've seen are instants/sorceries. Still, I really don't want to pass a master and another rare.
October 29, 2013 7:01 p.m.
I'm having the same dilemma as Timekeeper. Are we finally choosing to go WR, or is UW an option? And even if we decide to go WR, are we willing to pass along Master of Waves , when we pretty much know that whoever it gets passed to will probably make better use of it?
October 29, 2013 7:51 p.m.
yup, master of waves is going to be a freaking monster. That being said, my vote goes for Magma Jet simply because in my experience, R/W can be suuuuper good. And, not to mention, that Last Breath may not be the last one we run into.
October 29, 2013 8:16 p.m.
I do not see Master of Waves as a very big threat. Although we can't kill him with Magma Jet , he'll die to just about anything else, like a combat trick, or to Last Breath , and when he does, all his tokens will die as well. If we do take the Master, it should be as a hate draft, and we should hesitate to switch to blue unless a ton comes our way. My vote is for Magma Jet , and to stick with W/R for right now.
October 29, 2013 8:19 p.m.
While the master himself wont be a big threat (they likely won't even attack with him since even Divine Verdict is available, not to mention combat tricks), they'll have no problem attacking with the 5-10 tokens it produces in a locked board.
I don't know what the right pick is, but we might see more blue open this pack since it's reversed, and we're not stuck on red yet, though passing a jet would be painful.
October 29, 2013 8:53 p.m.
I don't want to pass the Magma Jet , but we might want to take the Master, just to be safe. I'm not quite convinced that the master will produce 5-10 tokens, but the thought scares me enough to maybe reconsider passing him. Still voting for the jet, but i could be convinced to switch.
October 29, 2013 9:03 p.m.
Just so we're clear, taking the Master of Waves would help one of our opponents deck, while it lower our chance against 6 other matchup (maybe even 7 since he still gets to pick a card he could use in his deck).
Hate Drafting isn't a good idea overall, and since blue isn't open as much as it seems to be, but taking the Magma Jet would be a safe and strong pick.

Freaking Master of Waves .... I hate to pass him, but I think it is the correct choice to pick up the Magma Jet here.
October 30, 2013 3:41 a.m.
Alright, Jet it is. We can theoretically easily remove master with Last Breath , possibly Divine Verdict , and since our opponent will most likely only have one copy in the deck, the tokens won't be scarier than 2/1s

Pick 2, whatrewegonnagetAnd another rare that we could have picked up pack 1 :(
October 31, 2013 8:53 a.m.
MOAR PEGASI.
Seriously, though. Look at all these badass rares that we didn't get to first pick. What the actual heck?
October 31, 2013 9:02 a.m.
Pegasus will likely wheel, others might not, like the akroan crusader, might be a good pick

Yeah, I'd guess Euphonatron's team passed Abhorrent Overlord for the same reason we passed Master of Waves . Meaning that they are almost definitely not playing black.
I'm going with
1/1's for the win!

what about the Observant Alseid ? do we think it will wheel?
October 31, 2013 2:12 p.m.

Cavalry Pegasus should wheel, and even if it doesn't, I think it's the third choice for us. I see this pick as a choice between Akroan Crusader and Observant Alseid . Akroan Crusader is only good if we have the spells (like Observant Alseid !) to back it up. We currently only have Dauntless Onslaught to back it (and our Wingsteed Rider ) up, and this is clearly not enough. Besides, Observant Alseid and almost all the other bestow creatures are actually very good in limited all by themselves. I don't think it was that bad to have passed 1 of these Observant Alseid s for the Ill-Tempered Cyclops (we did/do need to fill in the slot for a potential late-game hitter), but I think it would be even more of a mistake to pass the bestow creature up again.

well.. even if i'm joining with what seems to be the consensus i'll say
+1 Last Breath
