I'm really hoping for some ordeals, Coordinated Assault , Dragon Mantle , Phalanx Leader , Favored Hoplite , stuff like that. We have a lot of subpar heroic cards and enablers, we haven't seen much that is great besides Dauntless Onslaught

+1 Titan's Strength .

What are peoples thoughts on Ray of Dissolution ? We have seen quite a few bestow creatures.

I would like more bodies, but I don't care for Silent Artisan . I think we should definitely pick up at least 1 Ray of Dissolution for the sideboard before the draft is done. I don't think we need to pick it up just yet, though I may also be OK with it.

I was quite sad not taking the Ray of Dissolution last pack, and it comes back right now, I don't see much of a reason not to take it, it's removal that can hit about 30% of the creature of the format or any pesky enchantments that is played against us.

Here's the thing, this format is driven by synergy, and not just the cards themselves. RW is usually played as an aggressive Heroic strategy, putting down one or two threats and just abusing the Heroic with spells and ordeals and stuff.

We haven't had much luck with our picks (actually pretty terrible luck) but we can still make a heroic deck work if we find some good heroes. Drafting random cards isn't very effective, but I'm not sure we'd want a second Battlewise Valor in our deck. I'm open to suggestions.

I would rather take Ray of Dissolution , than Battlewise Valor .

The valor works well with heroic and the flamespeaker.

The ray gets rid of big threats like any of the gods, ordeals, Gift of Immortality , bestow creatures, or even something like Dragon Mantle .

+1 Ray of Dissolution

At this point, we currently have 6x instants/sorceries. We don't really want to be main-boarding more. Unfortunately, this pack has no creatures in our colors, so it comes down to Battlewise Valor vs Ray of Dissolution . Are either of these better for our deck than the instants/sorceries we've already picked up? I don't think so, but at least Ray of Dissolution has a very strong chance of coming in from the sideboard. It doesn't get rid of Gods (they're indestructible), but it can definitely come in to remove a lot of other dangerous threats that wcdorrell mentioned.

oops! messed that one up a little.

We could definitely use some removal that doesn't heal our enemies.

+1 Ray of Dissolution

Sorry for the massive delay, but the pack is here now. Let's try to get as many votes in as possible.

The Evangel seems sweet. Makes dudes. Is a dude. We'd probably have a pretty decent devotion to white at that point.

Evangel of Heliod seems like a sweet card with the white we currently have. Although Titan's Strength helps our Heroic strategy.

But I'd prefer the Evangel of Heliod .

Timekeeper says... #13

I would definitely prefer Evangel of Heliod here, though Titan's Strength would still be useful.

Currently our white mana symbol count (on permanents) is 7, which would jump to 9 after the evangel.

+Evangel of Heliod

/agree with Timekeeper

We need more creatures so the Evangel of Heliod is the way to go.

wcdorrell says... #16

I guess we take the warden.

November 6, 2013 11:35 a.m.

Goody says... #17

We could also take the scholar, the body and cost are much better. That depends on whether or not we'd want a second warden

November 6, 2013 11:47 a.m.

wcdorrell says... #18

The warden taps a lot of stuff, but there are a lot of pumps and creatures that get to big to tap.

On the other hand the scholar only offers 2 more toughness.

November 6, 2013 5:50 p.m.

Timekeeper says... #19

Both warden and scholar stop creatures of power three or less, only scholar can stop hex proof and warden can stop unblockables.Scholar is more useful as an attacking creature (if it should come to that) and warden has the small potential to provide some evasion (tapping down a blocker).

All that being said, they fairly equal, but I think I prefer the scholar.

+1 Scholar of Athreos

Forgot to say that scholar is hit by less removal.

Priest of Iroas . I don't think Demolish will be that helpful.

November 7, 2013 11:32 a.m.

erabel says... #23

Aye. Enchantment destruction seems slightly more relevant.

Dude that removes enchantments.

A body that can be a kill-spell when we need it, seems decent enough. He's also a human, so he has a chance to be a flying body.
