Okay, so my first couple weeks with the deck gave some very mixed results. I got 4-0 and first place at the first FNM I played with it, went 3-2 at the next, went 1-1-2 (!) at the Saturday Game Day I played in, then 4-0 and first place at the Sunday Game Day. Here are some updated thoughts from the experience I've had so far:

• I don't even need to be able to activate Whip of Erebos in order for it to win me the game, as the lifelink is enough against almost any opponent who wants to win with damage
• Herald of Torment is great for speeding up my deck against control opponents, especially since the bestow ability basically gives it haste
• Necropolis Fiend is totally worth it as a 4/5 flyer for cheap and is very good in combat against many things. I've only had to use him to kill something once, but it was key when it happened.
• Pharika, God of Affliction is the hotness alongside Doomwake Giant and Eidolon of Blossoms, and any dead creatures that would be stupid to Whip out get upgraded to Snakes. It's not too hard to wake her up, either.
• Dead Drop doesn't need to come in very often, but it puts a big hurt on any opponents who rely on just a couple very threatening creatures
