Maybeboard

Ever wanted to run a flat-out smash-face Dragon Tribal deck before? This is it. It's not quick and it doesn't go wide, but if they don't answer all of its threats immediately, it's going to hurt... a lot. In particular, there are a lot of players who simply don't want to watch this deck get to seven mana and run them over for seven commander damage with Karrthus. Even fewer decks want to see him get buffed by literally anything in this deck, even though he needs to find an extra four power before he can kill in less than three attacks.

This deck is the first I have theory-built before I actually acquire most of its cards. I built this deck to show my love of Dragons in Magic: The Gathering, while also excelling at a winning strategy based around combat damage. Some find that this strategy is inferior to control or combo, but I think there's a certain element of fun and simplicity that makes this strategy worth it. Also, even some of the control decks and combo decks in my play group have a tough time beating this deck when this deck draws well.

As this deck is Dragon Tribal, there are several cards included as Dragon support. These cards include Haven of the Spirit Dragon, Dragon Tempestfoil icon, Dragonspeaker Shaman, Crucible of Firefoil icon, Door of Destinies, Dragon Throne of Tarkir, and Warstorm Surge. If anyone would like to recommend further support cards, suggest which ones I would want and which cards I should replace.

The Maybeboard comes from the cards suggested by tappedout. There's still no final decision for any of them, so a yea or nay for each one would be appreciated.

The next change I'm going to try to make is to reduce the amount of slow mana this deck gets and to slightly pad the land count. I get more two-land hands and three-land hands with no ramp than I would ever like to have... Four-land hands with maybe one big Dragon and some ramp is this deck's dream opening hand, but as simple as that is, it almost never happens.

I had a friend who made me laugh a little when he said that this deck is almost tournament quality. I know that this deck would have to change its identity dramatically for it to be tournament level... I can think of some Isamaru, Hound of Konda Voltron decks that could destroy this deck before it gets off the ground. What I think my friend meant was that my deck is one of the most well-built decks in our playgroup; that's high praise indeed, given some of the decks I see in my playgroup.
