If it doesn't have haste, won't a token made by Seance just die having done nothing?

November 13, 2012 5:40 p.m.

DavidBray says... #3

But won't it die on your opponent's end step?

Lol seance is only good when the token's have ETB abilities like Vexing Devil or Armada Wurm . I would work with Centaur Healer and maybe even card:Centaur's Herald

I have 4 of each. What would you do with them?

-2 Vitughazi Guildmage, -1 Risen Sanctuary, -2 Phantom General+3 Avacyn's Pilgrim+2 Arbor Elfto speed things up casting-wise

-2 Savage Surge+2 Selesnya Charmmore utility

-2 Parallel Lives, -1 Growing Ranks +3 Intangible Virtuelower casting costs. plus intangible virtue is a must have for any token deck

Haha. So bad that i didn't see how strictly better Selesnya Charm is to Savage Surge

Now i'm a bit concerned there's not enough token generation to facilitate the populate mechanic. Should I re-introduce the 2 Eyes in the Skies from the deck

Personaly im a aggro player so, throw in some buffs and Wild Beastmaster , She combo's well with Champion of Lambholt and Wild Defiance , with your tokens it smashes face.

Personally I far prefer Gavony Township over the other utility land here (Grove of the Guardian in particular is a lot worse than it looks due to its vulnerability to removal and its one-shot nature) and I'd add Sunpetal Grove s to improve your mana base.

I'd also put the numbers of card:Avacyn's Pilgrims and Arbor Elf ves up to four each as they really help you speed up rapidly. Whilst they deviate from the token theme I also feel Elvish Visionary , Strangleroot Geist , Deadbridge Goliath , and Loxodon Smiter are really strong and I'd personally main a full playset of Rancor if you can get them. Oblivion Ring and Fiend Hunter make for much needed removal and Sundering Growth is a definite sideboard card.

Finally, if you can get your hands on any of them, Thragtusk , Restoration Angel , Thalia, Guardian of Thraben , Silverblade Paladin , Sublime Archangel , Armada Wurm , Garruk Relentless  Flip , Garruk, Primal Hunter and Temple Garden are all powerful, if expensive ways to give your deck a competitive edge.

Hope some of that was helpful :p

If you can get your hands on it, card:Trostani, Selesnya's Voice is ideal for token decks since it produces tokens with perks for 3. And if you're willing to reach this far back into history, Phyrexian Processor is a bomb with Trostani as long as you have the mana to mass produce Minion tokens and you're willing to invest enough life into the Processor. Also, try to add some more little creatures like card:Avacyn's Pilgrim/Arbor Elf /Llanowar Elves /Birds of Paradise to help ramp into your big guns.

Doubling Season would be amazing, but appreciate this may not be a gettable card

This deck is frustrating me a bit. I seem to pull all the cards I don't need. A 3/3 centaur doesn't do anything after turn 4 and I can't seem to deal with anything. I'm used to playing black etc. with lots of removal.Perhaps I need to drop some Path to Exile 's.

I would like to see just one Worldspine Wurm just for kicks and giggles. But that's me. On another note I'm guessing that Garruk Wildspeaker and Armada Wurm are out of the question due to price?

DavidBray says... #17

Basically, yes, -MisterJ-. I think Advent of the Wurm covers Armada Wurm , but I would love any of the Garruk's, if only I could get my hand on them. Damn mythic prices.

Wildspeaker tends to be a bit cheaper, meaning its not the Caller of Beasts price, which I feel would go highly unused in your deck compared to Wildspeaker. I think Armada Wurm has its place since for two more mana you get twice as much wurm. That being said, Trostani, Selesnya's Voice would do better than the Guildmage's most of the time as she is harder to kill and cheaper populate plus life gain which is always a bonus. They are fairly cheap now, given that you can find them. Aura Shards is a good sideboard but again almost kinda expensive. This deck could be awesome depending on how fast it runs, but mainly depends on how much money you have or trades to throw into it. My main concern is it will never be fast enough for competitive play, if that's what you're wanting.

If your running ravens crime try Life from the Loam and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth as that can mean that you can constantly cast the crime to make them ditch their whole hand

It may seem strange but I never run a green deck without Triumph of the Hordes either in my main or on my sideboard. This is especially true if the deck is creature heavy. Your opponent won't even know what hit them when your 5 1/1 or 2/2 creatures all get +1/+1 trample and infect for a one turn wipe-out.

Interesting. Certainly a surprise. Thanks Pixelbeard.

I feel like you're going to want a full four birds if you're playing four advent of the wurm.

And while having three garruk is nice, you don't have too much of a top end past that that he can ramp into. Maybe a one or two of Terastodon or something of the sort for when the full ramp package is a go? It'll also help out in those very grindy matchups where you can afford to drop an elephant and pop some of your own lands to establish a huge board presence.

Nice idea, ThatJunkMage. I do find Garruk's +1 does little the turn it comes down and feels like a stop gap to higher abilities.

Why is Qasali Pridemage in? It has no synergy with your deck because exalted is not an ability you want in a token strategy. Tokens are for swarm. It should not even be in sideboard. If you are going against any atrifact or enchantment heavy deck, you should use Naturalize instead. It goes at instant speed and does not need white, so you can leave the white open because your deck needs it. Also, work out the manabase. There is a pie chart on the side and it helps out a lot with the mana. I have put up a deck and used that to work out the mana because I know it is wacky. Otherwise, good deck!

DavidBray says... #25

Thanks Mgrabusky. I've switched Qasali Pridemage for Hero of Bladehold and will look at mana later.

Is that a better fit?
