Hero of blade hold is a much better choice. I would be afraid to go against this deck at an FNM now.

Definitely an option, gafratt01 but a bit slow. Thanks for the idea.

you mostly need white mana. but you run more forests. so anafenza will almost never see turn 2 play where that is her strength . also you should run MAX 2 scavenging ooze (best 1) because you cant feed then all in case you draw more than 1. i would recommend 3x Qasali Pridemage or Fleecemane Lion and remove 3x scavenging ooze and go for 4x birds for turn 2 3cmc dropsand consider on adding x4 4cmc bomb like siege rhino or wilt-leaf liege(also makes the voice tokens stronger) .consider Ajani, Caller of the Pride he might look weak but his -3 ends games. and with his +1 you can give kitchen finks counters so that he can die again ( -1 -1 counters are removed if you add +1 +1)also you can add Cloudshift it can save 1 creature from a board wipe also you can abuse it because kitchen finks and siege rhino abilities will trigger again

You've earned a respectful nod for the King Louie reference.

Other than Hero of Bladehold, your creature base seems to me like you could get away with running 1 or 2 Collected Company. I may be wrong, but I think it's a fun idea.

Thanks wildcard17. I think it could, yes. Might want to wait for a post-rotation price drop on that one, though.

Hi there,

I like this deck, +1 :-)

Regarding Collected Company, I don't think it's a good idea in here because you only have 19 potential hits for it and it requires at least 26-27 to reliably get the 2 creatures.

On the other hand, as you have many token generators, I would recommend Gavony Township, it does wonders in this kind of deck.

You can check some ideas here : Loxodon't Tread on Me !, it has many similarities.

Cheers ;-)

You probably want some Fetid Heaths to make Lili, Anafenza, Dismember and Hero of Bladehold easier to cast.

Ntuk12 says... #15

instead of dismember i find that tragic slip is more efficient, may wanna look into them. try running them as an alternative to your dismembers and see how they do against your opponent then compare the results.

Maringam says... #16

I disagree on the Tragic Slip, they only really work if you've already killed something of theres, in which case you probably either dont need or want to kill anything else for the turn, or if they killed something of yours, in which case you should be laying out new board position, not getting removal vengeance. - And you don't need for Dismember.

I agree Maringam. Tragic Slip was great in standard for an out of hand Predator Ooze, but it is quite situational. Dismember hits Modern better. Thanks for confirmation.

But dismembers late game presence lacks against say my ulamog who's annihilator effect gives you a perfect opportunity to cast tragic slip and it always takes care of those 'pesky' elvish pipers whom I love so much so idk I would run it with em in your main board try it against your library and see which does better for yourself. Though life is a currency spend it wisely...

If you really want to play Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip, I recommend Sakura-Tribe Elder or Nest Invader. You could also play Viscera Seer. The idea is if you have either of those on board and Liliana your opponent cannot kill Liliana because the moment they try to you can just sacrifice a creature to trigger her. Heck for that matter she'd probably be better in CoCo-Pod decks. Still, having a way to instant speed blank a kill spell is pretty nice.

Not a bad idea kengiczar. Thanks for that.

Note, the name needs changed. A suggestion would be "most people are afraid to take the evolutionary leap". This is just a prototype, but, I just feel like it needs to be changed.

August 5, 2015 7:41 p.m.

From the couple of practice playtests i looked at, the deck seems too slow - teh best part about the pod decks and the collected company decks (not to mention natural order decks) is that you are putting a creature into play. Evolutionary leap is board disadvantage, and it also slows you down by a full turn. To make it work then the creatures being hit would have to be very good undercosted threats, with little preference for which one you hit. Persist creatures seem good and especially tokens. I would personally put more token generators for the 2-drop slot, maybe raise the alarm, as it lessens the impact of sacrificing creatures as well as not being a "hit" off the leap.

Other than that, I dont really see why you are playing duress in the main - either change to Iok/Thoughtseize or bring in the sideboard Batterskulls.

Then there's obvious stuff like try Collected Company and put in Fetches.

The deck has a feel of having cards in because you like them or have them - what role is, say, Garruk Wildspeaker playing in the deck? two birds don't seem good at all - if you need them, you should probably be playing 4. A singleton Hero of Bladehold should probably also be a 2-of and you might want to put in some Qasali Pridemages.

Thanks luis.esguevillas. That's loads to work with. I like the persist combo with Anafenza, do you reckon I should go for Murderous Redcap like other Anafenza decks?

Tidehollow Sculler is another nice card that interacts well with sacrificing (sacrifice it in response to its enter the battlefield trigger and you permanently exile a card of your opponent's
