Mainboard you don't have enough red devotion to support Purphoros, God of the Forge as a creature so if you're considering him for sideboard you would need to increase your red mana-cost permanent in main deck

@ drpeppercan , dont worry about the side boarding i really appreciate the input man but right now im just trying to get the main board tightened up.

@colin13 i was trally thinking about sparktrooper but the problem is i already have enough 4/5 mana cost creatures. You think spark trooper is better than what i have now?

I would almost pull Firefist Striker and replace it with Ash Zealot . Most of your creatures have first strike or flying anyway, so blocking won't be a huge issue, and swinging 2 with first strike and haste seems to offer a bigger advantage to your deck than Striker would. You are either going to be doing damage or killing a creature.

@ nostetselyk i was thinking about that, the only thing is that i have only 2 creatures with flying and 1 with first strike, and i get the haste and first strike part of Ash Zealot but with the combo of Firemane Avenger hitting a creature for 3 damage and Firefist Striker tapping a creature i can basically get attack and not get blocked by anyone. If theres something im missing please let me know

So far I've been looking at this deck and I like it. I think after just looking that there will be a way to go to 3x Archangel of Thune in lieu of getting another copy of something else. In my experience I drew the archangel too much at a full playset.

I plan on actually doing the play test write-up tonight. When that's finished, I'll be sure to get you a link to it! This one looks like it'll be an interesting one for sure!

@ Spootyone makes me wish i sideboarded Skullcrack lol i was actually really wanting to side it in but not many people play lifegain at my local fnm.

haha well in a playtest on it's own just to get a feel for it, I got turn one pantheon soldier into turn two madcap skills...that's sick when you're playing a deck that cannot makes non-multicolored creatures that do stuff til advent of the wurm...

I retract that statement lol. I completely forgot about fiendslayer paladin and the token form selesnya charm. Still, thats a potential 5 -10 life lost before I can do much of anything. That is really scary.

Oh great! I had some family stuff to take care of tonight so I wasn't able to get to the actual write-up, but hopefully I can tomorrow and I'll be sure to see how that change feels.

Why not go with Imposing Sovereign over Firefist Striker accomplishes the not being able to block with out having to rely on battalion then it opens up space in your SB for more relevant cards you would like to play. Also the Firemane Avenger 's battalion may be hard to turn on as well seeing as you are only running 20 creatures. With all the spot removal running around right now I do not think battalion is very well positioned to be taken advantage of. Personally I would put Boros Reckoner in for the Firemane Avenger as cool as the Avenger could be, Reckoner will really start to wreck face once you start getting activations off Archangel of Thune . Also, maybe move a couple Chained to the Rocks to the SB in favor of Purphoros, God of the Forge as moving Reckoner to MB allows you to play him. Chandra, Pyromaster fits here as well as she will also let you push some damage through and CA is never a bad thing . Just my 2 cents as I have been tinkering with a Boros style deck for standard recently and like a lot of the aspects of this deck.

Oh what I meant is I haven't yet had the time to do the actual playtest -- just a quick run through the playtester on its own to see how the curve felt. I'll do the actual playtest against my deck and do the write up for it tomorrow when I have more time.

@ flipdipple

First off i want to thank you for the comment as I do appreciate any kind of constructive critisicism I receive on this deck.

I went with Firefist Striker over Imposing Sovereign because of the simple reason that the striker allows me to choose which creature I want to tap, Imposing Sovereign Limits me to just when they drop a creature, so if I choose not to attack when they just played a Voice of Resurgence that means the next turn when I attack they can chump block me and get an x/x creature, I already had this situation come up while the opposing player had like 9 tokens out so luckily I was able to tap it, the same can be said if my opponent has a boros reckoner.

As far as purports is concerned that card would be a lot better for a token deck or a weenie deck, as I feel this deck is to " slow" for that kind of creature card.

Now Firemane Avenger and Boros Reckoner I totally get that in general the reckoner is better, but please try and remember that this is a boros life gain/aggro deck and not a straight aggro deck. Firemane Avenger is first a flyer which people usually don't have much to block, then if i have the battalion trigger as soon as it attack it deals 3 damage to creature or player and I gain 3 life, which will trigger the angel and buff my creatures. So in essence if I had Archangel of Thune out with Firemane Avenger and any one of my creatures, let's just say I had Firefist Striker since we were talking about him previously, I will declare an attack with all 3 which will trigger Firemane Avenger to do 3 damage to a creature ( which will usually either kill the creature or drop the creature down enough so that the opposing player doesn't want to block with him) then I would gain 3 life which will trigger Archangel of Thune and buff my creatures, and then I get to choose whatever creature I want to " tap" because of Firefist Striker . And if I so happen to have Madcap Skills on any creature attacking on that turn that ""tap"" ability that Firefist Striker has can be just enough to let another creature of mine through because Firemane Avenger killed one when it declared its attack and did 3 damage to a creature, and Firefist Striker " tapped" the other one.

Sorry for the long winded answer but I felt it was necessary to explain why I believe the cards you mentioned are well and worthy of many decks, but I just feel it would not suite this deck right because the whole purpose of this deck is to combine a good combo of life gain and aggro. This deck came about because as a pre selesnya player I love the life gain decks but green/ white is so typical for life gain that i wanted to do something different. plus selesnya life gain is really not my play style as I am a more aggressive type player. And since I haven't really seen too many aggro/life gain decks floating around I figured I would give it a shot.

Thank you again.

Yeah most of your creatures have first strike already, but I recommend Legion Loyalist because the trample plus unblockable from creature tokens is actually really strong. It is a good one drop. I am unsure where I would put it in, but maybe for Spark Trooper ? If you put madcap skills on legion loyalist he gets great fast.

@ Magiclover318

Thanks for your response, unless im missing something the only creature i have with first strike is Fiendslayer Paladin . I did think about Legion Loyalist but as far as removing Spark Trooper im not sure if thats a good thing considering that Spark Trooper synergy with life gain and Archangel of Thune .

Oh I guess I was thinking that Legion Loyalist gives everyone first strike so I guess i counted that haha sorry. Okay remove Brave the Elements for Legion Loyalist then. haha
