It's a cool card but you already do enough damage and fast I might add. No need for it I see.

Legion is great when avoiding kill spells and board wipes plus keeps spark trooper alive and powers up all creatures applying awesome preasure constantly I would main it over path of bravery you dont get life gain but it has more functions for two mana

I would take out Fiendslayer Paladin for an additional Boros Reckoner

Hey man, just be careful with the addition of Ash Zealot . You've got a hard to pull-off curve of turn one white source, turn two double red source. Just something to keep in mind.

Wont Legion's Initiative counter the effect of Archangel of Thune and wipe Madcap Skills ? I do have Brave the Elements in the deck to help keep my creatures alive, or just to alpha strike, i also have Boros Charm for utility plus Supreme Verdict . Think thats good enough or should i still swap Legion's Initiative for Path of Bravery ?

It would but keeps you in the game at the same time

true Boros Charm makes all permanents you control indestructible but legion will get around Far / Away and Devour Flesh since that doesnt stop sacrifice which will help greatly its an extra function that path doesnt have and control wont care about path as much since they will do there best to make sure you dont have creatures period

Your sideboard is a lot of removal right now... how attached are you to Warleader's Helix ? I feel like it fills the same role as Mizzium Mortars , but lacks the overload capability. Sure, a little lifegain is nice from the spell, but when I was playtesting this deck, it had a LOT of trouble with Fiendslayer Paladin , and you don't really have a mainboard answer to that, other than blocking and then making your guys invincible with either Boros Charm or Brave the Elements . The mortars, on the other hand, hits both the paladin and any hexproof creatures if you overload it, which is a huge plus. I would consider cutting the 2 copies of Warleader's Helix in the MB, replacing them with 2 of the Mizzium Mortars from the SB, and slipping two Assemble the Legion into the sideboard for the control matchup. If you're super attached to the Helix, you could drop a Chained to the Rocks or two from the SB, but again, your sideboard is pretty removal-heavy atm, so I don't know if you need to jam even more in there. Just a thought.

@ cheznet

Fiendslayer Paladin is invulnerable to Mizzium Mortars due to it being a red spell. Also i believe i have plenty of answers to Fiendslayer Paladin . I do have 4 of them in the deck so i can alwayys 1 for one them, Boros Reckoner , Ash Zealot can 1 for 1 him, Firemane Avenger can take him out himself or with the battalion trigger. And there are plenty more i believe as well

It can't be the target, but you can overload it to take care of it. I just thought it was a bad matchup, I don't know. Either way, the mortars are better against hexproof creatures, but if you're not really worried about those, then Warleader's Helix is fine, I guess. I still think you have a bit too much removal/burn in the sideboard, but it's up to you.

Really liking the looks of this, +1 from me.

Legion's Initiative is very strong, If you are worried about losing all the counters Thune gives it, why not run a Cathars' Crusade ? Also combos very nicely with Assemble the Legion if you are running that.

I would say that 6 Mizzium Mortars between the sideboard and mainboard is excessive... :/

Would definitely replace the mainboard ones with Magma Jet , as they are phenomenal. They smooth out your draws and can remove their early threats, as your late game with Thune is not something you should need to worry about I don't think.

I would also replace 1 of you Glare of Heresy with a Wear / Tear . It hits things like Primeval Bounty , Deadbridge Chant , stuff like that.

October 8, 2013 11:48 p.m.

andiamo23 says... #24

@ BetaRick

Yha man i mentioned doing that in an earlier post because i know control hates Mindsparker and Burning Earth . Thanks for mentioning it again, i will be updating the sideboard tonight.

I think you should go Banisher Priest over Chained to the Rocks it costs more but it gives you another body on the battlefield. Thats my biggest problem with chained in my deck it takes up creature space. Also i think you should cut madcap skills for Swift Justice it could potentially trigger archangels pump ability and it does three things for the cost of w. Thanks for commenting on my deck i need all the feedback i can get. Spark troopers are like .67c i should probably get some.
