Artifact (1)

Welcome to my mill deck. It was a challenge I had in my mind for a while since all my other EDH decks were all creature heavy. It started off with a simple plan to just mill an opponent, then slowly added more plans into the deck so it becomes more versatile.

This deck isn't strictly only for milling.

The deck has around 6 different ways of engaging your opponent(s)

1. Mill, using Phenax, God of Deception

2. Villainous Wealth your opponent

3. Triskaidekaphobia

4. Deadeye Navigator + Gonti, Lord of Luxury

5. Hive Mind + Villainous Wealth

6. Assault Formation Beat down

All the cards in the deck support all the various plans. Since your opponent decks varies, you need to shift the engagement plan.

Early Game

During the game, you want to start ramping quickly using the various land ramping sorceries such as Farseek, Explosive Vegetation, etc. Try to cast Thrasios, Triton Hero early so you can use the activated ability to improve your ramp. Keep it slow and avoid dropping any threats down so no one will suspects anything. Keep an open mind and observe before deciding on a plan.

Mid Game

By this time, you probably have a reasonable idea on how to each of your opponents deck works. Now you need to decide on a plan. Each plan is best to engage certain decks, but every plan can still be used, regardless of the deck it is against.

1. Mill, using Phenax, God of Deception

  • General plan, suitable against various opponents.

  • Weak against decks that abuse the graveyard or if someone has a way to return their graveyard back to their deck.

2. Villainous Wealth your opponent:

  • Good vs any deck that runs big spells (Big Creatures, Big Spells, etc)

  • Weak vs any deck that have a lot of small spells (Aggro, spellslinger, etc)

3. Triskaidekaphobia:

  • Very unexpected against most players. Also very fun to watch your opponent hit 13 life and realize they need to lose or gain one life to avoid losing.

  • It is very easy for some decks to manipulate their life total so they can get away from the 13 life.

4. Deadeye Navigator + Gonti, Lord of Luxury

  • Similar to the Villainous Wealth plan, but it requires two cards. It is even better as the they remain on the field since you can cast the cards exiled by card:Gonti, Lord of Luxary any time. Unlike Villainous Wealth which requires the cards to be casted immediately.

  • The combo is very easy to stop as exiling Gonti, Lord of Luxury immediately ends this plan

5. Hive Mind + Villainous Wealth or any instant/sorcery

  • Chaos against any spellslinger deck or any deck that uses a lot of instants or sorceries

  • Weak against creature centric decks since they may not run many instants or sorceries

6. Assault Formation Beat down

  • Since most of our creatures have big toughness, this will turn the toughness into huge hitters.

  • Easy to stop, since removing Assault Formation could end badly

Late Game

One of the six plans should already be in progress. If it is the first time you use the deck against your opponents, they may most likely hate you if you used plan 2 or 4 against them.

Overall

This deck is extremely fun to play with because of all the plans that is built into the deck. Some tweaks are necessary for your personal playstyle.

What the deck needs help with

Need some card selection to improve the deck in either making the plans go smoother, or just having a new plan.Or maybe there are better ways to implement the current plans.

Thank You for viewing the deck, and any comments left behind.
