Good Morning all! Has anyone else been brewing in Timeless BO1 Ranked mode on Arena? I tried to list the format as Timeless on the deck, but I guess T.O. doesn't allow that option yet. I have been doing my best to go against the Meta and keep my Beloved Angels in the mix. This is the deck I have been having the most success with. Thought I'd share and see if anyone else had suggestions to help take down the bigger problem decks in the format. The biggest problem makers in the format seem to be Necropotence, Blood Moon, Orcish Bowmasters, The One Ring, Primeval Titan, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Thoughtseize, Phyrexian Obliterator, Field of Ruin etc. Those and generally just being faster to the punch and more consistent.
So, To speed up my deck, I have added fetch lands, of course, Once Upon a Time and Collected Company. The idea is to have T1-Once Upon a Time, grab what you need, cast Soul Warden, T2-Bishop of Wings, and T3-Resplendent Angel. Followed up with T4-Collected Company and hopefully land two Righteous Valkyrie to boost the life total over 27 and get the W! Backup plans include Skyclave Apparition which would be a lot cooler if it could fly, but is unfortunately a necessary card in this meta. It hits most of the problem cards I listed above, doesn't give them back anything useful when it dies, and it is also pulled into play by CoCo. Swords to Plowshares is the best white removal card ever printed, so it's an auto include. Reprieve helps stall the opponent by one turn (which is sometimes all we need), can counter a counterspell, and also draws us a card. Once Upon a Time helps thin the deck on the first turn, helps with land fixing, finds missing creatures in opening hand to get us that first turn Soul Warden so we can start to inch towards the magical life total of 27+ to activate our Righteous Valkyrie. I added one forest to the deck to help get around Blood Moon. Metropolis Reformer is not the best angel available, but it gets hit by CoCo, adds a lil lifegain sometimes, and helps protect us from thoughtsieze and Inquisition of Kozilek and of course Lightning Bolt. I've added one Boseiju, Who Endures and a Disenchant to help with the occasional Grafdigger's Cage lockout. Volatile Fault is there to help Boseiju cut down on Field of the Dead or Hall of Storm Giants, Castle Locthwain and other problem lands.
So that's pretty much the long and short of it. Hopefully T.O. will jump on the Timeless train and add the format to the mix.
