I love this deck. Muzio has always been my favorite commander

this is basically what i want the end result of my muzzio deck to look like. i am almost there, it runs pretty good too the way i have but you have cards that i dont. this is my list Muzzio Da Paliano. you get a plus 1 from me

you might want to take a look at my muzzio deck. it is my primary deck, and i feel it may have some insight to offer: I have a vision (of me winning)

I'd recommend the Pili-Pala and Grand Architect combo with Memnarch. Infinite colored mana allows you to take control of every permanent on the board, which can be game ending.

how does the first combo work

July 13, 2016 8:24 p.m.

gushuedesign says... #6

The combo works as such Bobby654:

  1. Tap Basalt Monolith for 3.
  2. Pay to use its untap ability and ability goes on the stack
  3. Pay for Rings of Brighthearth, copied ability goes on the stack.
  4. Copied ability resolves, untap monolithTap the monolith for 3.
  5. Original untap ability resolves, untap monolithRepeat 1-6 as needed.

would Metalwork Colossus be good in a deck like this?

September 26, 2016 6:34 a.m.

gushuedesign says... #8

I feel it gets outclassed because of its lack of trample, and indestructible that Darksteel Colossus has or the infect that comes from Blightsteel Colossus. Might have use in a Daretti, Scrap Savant deck though.

Indeed, its better to hit Blightsteel Colossus with Muzzio, but Metalwork Colossus is much easier to cast from your hand, and its an easy way to get an cmc 11 artifact onto the board.

Nice deck! I love artifact decks. Have you considered putting in Karn, Silver Golem? He provides more value out of your non-creature artifacts. He's also really fun with Mycosynth Lattice because you can just start popping lands.

With regard to the Metalwork Colossus I will be testing it as soon as i get my hands on a copy, and i'd suggest you at least give it a shot. Here is why. After about CMC 7, the availability of even halfway decent artifacts is severely limited. There's a few on 8, fewer on 9, and by 10 they get REALLY SCARCE. Metalwork Colossus is lackluster as a big dumb beater; it won't be taking out players at the speed of Blightsteel Colossus for sure. But it is big. More importantly, it can easily be free, or severely undercosted. Muzzio-ing for 7 is good, but doing it for 11 is way, way better. It also has a decent recursive ability, which additionally lets you dodge a return to dust and reanimate it. It's less about it being a beater, and more about it being an extremely efficient engine for muzzio, at least in my opinion.

It very will can be a efficient engine for Muzzio. I'd just need to figure out what to shift out to test Metalwork Colossus.

So I think really this may be a thing more for a spell based deck, but what about finding space for an Dramatic reversal + Isochron Scepter infinite mana combo?

October 13, 2016 12:02 p.m.

gushuedesign says... #15

It's more of a "cute" combo. Although it can be a good way of making large amounts of mana it would not synergies well with the rest of my deck. I'm not running much in the way of instances to make Isochron Scepter useful.

TheRedGoat says... #16

Yeah, probably should have figured. Although, while I have your ear, could you recommend a commander to sue such a combo? I do know another creature I'd use would be Elite Arcanist, as he can do the same thing as the scepter, but really I don't know mono blue enough to know what commander to abuse it with.

October 13, 2016 10:17 p.m.

Mastertoa says... #17

i know it is being tested to great success in cEDH UB Oona, Queen of the Fae storm, which could be mono U though it gets much worse

Elite Arcanist, Isochron Scepter, and Dramatic reversal seem like they would work wonders in a wizard tribal Azami, Lady of Scrolls deck. The untapping of all nonland permanents would synergise well with Azami, Lady of Scrolls card drawing ability.

Aladdin's Lamp and Colossus of Akros seem like good fits here. Some cards that always get into my artifact decks are Trading Post, Pentavus, Dreamstone Hedron, and Spine of Ish Sah. One card I severely underestimated at one time is Clock of Omens which has become an all star for my karn deck but with you has the potential to untap your commander for some ridiculous turns.

Do you like Junk Diver? Maybe add Scrap Trawler or Myr Retriever for mana reasons

Stefouch says... #21

Inspiring Statuary seems to be a very bad manarock: Only 9 cards in your list can benefit from it (including your commander). Most of the time it will be a dead card.

15 cards I believe, including Muzzio, Visionary Architect. This is slightly older list that I need to update later on today. So I may or may not remove it.

You should run Scorched Ruins

Stefouch says... #24

@Agent_Fire: Isn't Scorched Ruins too risky? → Wasteland, Stripmine, Tectonic Edge, Ghostly Quarter, etc..

The deck already has Lotus Vale
