The Deck

Unlike a lot of other Tishana, Voice of Thunder decks out there, this one doesn't try and cast a ton of elves and Overrun the opponent. Instead, it abuses Tishana's ETB ability by flickering and cloning.

Gameplay

The general idea of the deck is to put out two or three small dudes that provide mana (dorks, fetchers, etc). These small creatures not only help ramp into the (expensive) Tishana, Voice of Thunder at our helm, but they also count as creatures for her too!

Before casting Tishana, you usually want to follow those small dudes up with any one of our token generators. Not only do most of these token generators provide a lot of creatures for Tishana to work with, but most of them can be flickered out along with Tishana (via things like Ghostly Flicker)—value!

After casting Tishana, you want to flicker or clone her a few times, drawing an insane amount of cards. What's more, once we start flickering/cloning Tishana, her card draw naturally draws us more ways to draw cards. These usually "chain" together, and so once you start flickering/cloning Tishana, you'll probably be able to do so until you run out of mana. Wonderful!

After making Tishana immense, she should probably be large (hopefully with power 21+, so you can OHKO with commander damage). Unlike cloning her, if you had to flicker Tishana to draw more cards, she won't be able to attack; use the commander-staples greaves and boots to let her attack regardless! Once she's ready to attack, give her evasion (via cards like Whirler Rogue, Rogue's Passage, and Veil of Secrecy) and go to town!

Specific cards

- Nearly all of our token sources are creatures with ETB effects. They're alternative flicker/clone targets for when Tishana isn't out or when you can flicker more than one thing at a time (e.g. Ghostly Flicker). - The land fetching creatures   we run can also be targeted in a pinch, just like the token sources. - Prime Speaker Zegana + Tishana, Voice of Thunder is INSANE; they piggy-back off one another and can easily draw your whole deck out if you do it right. If Zagana is out, flicker her over Tishana. - Shaman of Forgotten Ways is a dork but also can help you win if Tishana is somehow out of commission. - Whirler Rogue is wonderful. It both creates tokens and provides unblockability.
- Spontaneous Generation is very strong (kind of like a mini zegana). If you start the game with this in your beginning hand, try not to play too many cards until you cast it—it's that good. - Tishana, Voice of Thunder + Turbulent Dreams is just a wincon. Use Turbulent Dreams to bounce ALL their stuff and swing. You don't even need evasion. - Ghostly Flicker doesn't only hit creatures, so use the other flickers you have (eg Illusionist's Stratagem) first. It's especially broken if you can hit Gaea's Cradle with it. - Sprout Swarm can be very strong. By tapping the extra tokens that are lying around, the buyback cost is not hard at all. - Veil of Secrecy both provides evasion and protection, which is nice. - As it's impossible to kill everyone in the same turn with Tishana,, Temporal Manipulation is used to allow us to take out the two largest threats. I'm heavily considering cutting it, however.

- Cryptolith Rite + Deranged Hermit or any of the other token makers is absurd as you go from 5 mana to 10 (assuming you hit your land drop next turn) - Growing Rites of Itlimoc   is also a large mana accelerant, and can help you find more creatures in a slow hand - Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots are used to swing with tishana the turn you flicker her - Thought Vessel allows us to keep our giant hand full of cards even after Tishana has died.
- Endless Sands and Mirrorpool are backup flicker-ers; Endless Sands also acts as a desert for Scavenger Grounds - Halimar Depths can tip a mediocre hand into a good one. - Khalni Garden is a nice way to start your game off: You get a free plant with your land! It also has a minor interaction wiwth Avenger of Zendikar. - Blinkmoth Nexus, Inkmoth Nexus, and Dryad Arbor can be made into creatures to up your creature count when casting tishana. The former two even can survive (non-instant) wraths. - Field of the Dead is awesome when combined with the fetches. It provides so much resiliency against wraths and allows you to just spam creatures every turn. - Reliquary Tower helps keep your hand full even when Tishana dies - Rogue's Passage and Soaring Seacliff are evasion stuck on lands; don't be afraid to cast the seacliff, you'll draw into more evasion eventually - Scavenger Grounds works really well against graveyard-based decks. - Gaea's Cradle is a no-brainer, especially in this deck where our entire goal is to spam creatures. - Deserted Temple goes quite well with Gaea's Cradle and Itlimoc, Cradle of the Sun, providing obscene amounts of mana. It also can be used in a pinch to help with mana screw (as was probably the original intention).

Let me know what you think!

Notes

  • I'm not running elf/merefolk tribal. Stuff like the merfolk lords is not productive.
