My competitive standard G/W token aggro I have been tweaking/testing for a while. Been doing quiet well at my LGS since I began playing it way back when it was just G/W aggro with things like Kalonian Hydra topping my curve.
Let me go ahead and cover/explain a few key cards that make this deck operate, and why I chose them.
First off, before I explain any other card, Frontline Medic in the SB. This one makes people scratch their head and question "why have this card period, especially 3 copies in your SB?". So, I will go ahead and answer this with the name of one card, Sphinx's Revelation. He is an awesome counter to cards such as this. Not so much reliant on his battalion even though it is nice if timed right.
Brimaz, King of Oreskos, this guy is just the shit. Amiright?
Ajani, Caller of the Pride, ah good ol' Ajani. +1 is nice. But the -3 can wreck face and end games when paired with Advent of the Wurm, Loxodon Smiter, or monsterous Fleecemane Lion.
Soldier of the Pantheon, the newest addition to the neighborhood. What can I say about this little 1 drop facesmasher. With all the multicolored 'power' cards floating around standard atm this little guy can handle his own. Has been working out fantastically in this build.
Fleecemane Lion, is a Watchwolf that is like a fine wine...gets better with age.
Loxodon Smiter, nothing to say really. He has been wrecking decks for quiet some time now.
Rootborn Defenses, so you like removal huh? Not in my house! O' and did I mention I get a free populate as a bonus.
The rest of the creatures/spells in the MD are just plain ol' effective, cheap, and powerful. Cant go wrong there. Nuff said.
The SB is compiled with cards that can answer alot of problems in standard atm. Maybe-board is cards I'm only consider for SB not MD. Just a few examples worth mentioning:
Pithing Needle for troublesome cards like AEtherling and pesky plainswalkers.
Fade into Antiquity vs. Detention Sphere, etc. Also nice against gods.
Rest in Peace for MBD/Golgari and such with their Whip of Erebos, Scavenging Ooze, etc. shenanigans.
The 'maybeboard' is cards that performed extremely well during testing. So they may still find a home inside the deckbox. Just not atm.
Looking for any and all suggestions, comments, or questions. And dont forget that +1 if you like the deck. Thanks in advance.
