Compared to the other colors, white's devotion dude sucks and barely sees play even in drafts and sealed. I challenge that. Together with a Strionic Resonator and Purphoros, God of the Forge, evangial of heliod is the nuts.
Deck breakdown:
Yoked Ox is a great turn 1 play, defends almost anything that can throw at you for a couple of turns and gets the devotion party started.
Precinct Captain is the play for turn 2, devotion, first strike and can make dudes if he deals damage.
Strionic Resonator this card is so underrated. It's a two drop and there are so many things in standard that are triggered abilities. obzdat, reckoner, purphoros, kalonian hydra, master biomancer, assemble the legion, the list goes on and on.
Boros Reckoner this guy is the nuts. devotion, can get first strike, saves damsels in distress, with Strionic Resonator he can win games or get ultra value with his triggered ability.
Purphoros, God of the Forge this is the main win con. Strionic Resonator can double his triggered, but even without it, deals loadsadamage with token generators.
Assemble the Legion here is the piece to the win con machine. wait a turn and with a Strionic Resonator you're putting two counters on it each turn, and more than doubling the dudes you would normally be getting.
Evangel of Heliod here is the last guy on the list. alone he makes 3 power for six. garbage right? well say it's just him and our buddy purphoros, that's still 6 damage to wherever you want. Not to mention if you say have a boros reckoner and yoked ox out too, then that's 14 damage.
Brave the Elements when you need some protection or want to swing in with all your whites dudes being unblockable.
Gods Willing because scry and more protection/unblockable is always welcome.
Rootborn Defenses because I'm sure you'd play a deck with supreme in it and if not, it still saves your dudes from removal, chump blocking, with the added bonus of making another token if you already have one out.
Chained to the Rocks I have mountains and need removal and devotion
I've never played constructed, I only play limited and edh, but I really want to get into constructed and I built a gruul deck on here and some others, but I really like this one and the gruul one, this one a little moreso because it's cheaper. I have not built either yet and have some of the cards, once I get a deck that i'm absolutely in love with, I'm getting the cards and hitting up the local FNM. Please any suggestions or recommendations, I think I have all the bases covered, but as I don't really play standard I can only base it off of what I see on mtgtop8 and from the cards I know of in the standard block.
