What cards would you add to this decklist if you didn't have a budget? And you could add whatever you want?

Hey I have seen a lot of phelddagrif decks with land counts of 37+, what is your opinion on that? And what is your opinion on the vivid land cycle? And what is the reason you don't include the scry dual lands or the dual lands from SOI? Purely budget reasons? (If you would include them, what would the manabase look like?) I realise that you don't want the basic land count to go too low with all the spells that search for them. Cool deck for sure! Thanks for sharing :)

Hey Martino, those are all really good questions actually, to be honest the vivid lands are a really good idea, I feel like they are a matter of preference though. I never really run into problems with not having the right amount/type of mana because I tend to draw into what I need fairly quickly with Howling Mine effects, so I prefer to keep my land base fairly heavily basics for the spells that search for them. Scry lands I don't find that useful because as I said usually I'm going to be drawing a fair amount of cards per turn, so adding the extra cost to the deck for scrying I don't find that useful. the SOI lands could go in but I'm not too concerned with how the mana base is atm.
Anyways, 37 lands would probably work well for other decks, but I feel that with that extra card draw I am more likely to get land drops per turn, so I'm not too concerned with it.

Also sorry about that Nooby_801 I read your comment and then forgot to reply. There are quite a few substitutions I would make to the deck, but nothing too major. For example I would replace Temple Bell with Jace Beleren, I would probably add the oaths (Oath of Lieges, etc) and you could remove the Vows to make room, Council's Judgment, Anvil of Bogardan, Font of Mythos, Forbidden Orchard, Mikokoro, Center of the Sea and Peacekeeper are all good additions that I avoided for budget reasons. Other than that I'm not too sure as I am probably the furthest thing from an expert on higher-cost cards, but I hope that helps!

This is really neat. I'm probably going to make something similar to this deck when I'm trying to have fun. +1

Sorry Huppster05, since I made this deck for personal use it has always been budget. I'll totally make a non-budget list if that is something that enough people want, I guess there aren't too many 'Griff lists around so that could help
And thanks Backstabbr1001! I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of your deck

Alrighty Huppster05 I just quickly whipped up a non-budget list, feel free to give me suggestions on that deck over there as I didn't playtest it or anything, I just used my prior knowledge of the deck to see if I could make a better non-budget version (here Phelddagrif Group Hug (No Budget Limit))
One thing I will mention however is that group hug tends to work better when using cheap cards, as it is much easier to convince people that you don't have malicious intents and just wanted to make a silly deck, but of course I'm not going to limit you because of my personal preference!

Personally I really like having Kruphix, God of Horizons and Spellbook on the off chance I don't draw Reliquary Tower soon enough (or it gets destroyed). But that might be just me, I hate discarding.

ElixerOfMortality Kruphix definitely is a good choice, I just worry that it will cause me to get targeted more often as it has the potential to be a pretty stable win con and it is indestructable. In regular cases that would be good but usually I tend to win in a single turn, whereas kruphix would stay on the board for most likely a pretty long time

Hey man, just wanted to say this deck looks sweet and super fun to play. Seeing as I have roughly 80% of the cards, I think I'll be making this my first ever EDH deck. +1

poorpinkus Fair enough. I mainly play online, and considering both Truce and Temporary Truce aren't available on MTGO, which of the maybeboard cards would you recommend in its place?

@ElixerOfMortality wizards is going to get one angry envelope with 2 relatively un-impactful choices inside

ElixerOfMortality Jace Beleren, Council's Judgment and Font of Mythos are all great options to switch in, I like truce mainly because of the idea behind the card, and you can sort of use it as an offering to get a player to stop attacking, but those options are very powerful in the deck

I'm a bit confused. Won't having no maximum hand size with things like Reliquary Tower stop you discarding and therefore make cards like Elixir of Immortality become irrelevant? What happens then?

chocolatte123 while this is true, having such a large hand is much more useful for the majority of the game, especially when you can play instants and cards with flash. The thing is that if you are going to use the elixir you can just play instants and the like anyways, putting them into your graveyard, and either way the game format in general tends to cause graveyards to surge in size. You don't need to COMPLETELY refill your library; you just need to do enough that you have more cards in your library than the next guy

Hipparchos Not recently, I've been playing a lot of my other decks for a while... No matter what I tend to notice that playing decks too often will cause them to get stale, so I have been taking a break with it. I am planning on playing it at my LGS soon though!

That's true, you can play this deck once or twice, when you play with your friends. After that everyone's getting bored. But sometimes it's just fun. :)

Have you thought about Spike Weaver instead of Dawnstrider?
poorpinkus says... #1
mtgadict It's a bit of an unfun win condition, and there would be no way to justify having it in there if it were meant to be a full group hug deck
