Actually it ends up pretty much being the opposite, I can control who gets the counters, so i can put some on creatures whose controller is lagging behind. Because i helped them out that person now is going to fight for me. Also, keep in mind that i can always choose to sacrifice it and stop giving counters at any time

Then again, I was playing against to extremely rude EDH decks: one that played Leyline of Punishment with a Magus of the Moon, and some other cards that were like when a land enters the battlefield, it's controller loses 2 life and when a player casts a spell he loses 2 life, and the other guy won on an infinite combo that destroyed all noncreature permanents.

Horn of Greed could be good in here.

SOrry, that reply was meant for soggyfatmanbuildingadeck it definitely can cause some problems, i wouldnt cast it turn two, but its really just meant to make the game rediculous. My whole idea is that i would play it later on after making everyone draw 40 cards or something, as either way once i have drawn that many cards i probaby have something like Solitary Confinement to prevent attacks. Plus, you dont have to worry too much about them having blockers as the main win condition is card draw

Did have Horn of Greed, but it wasnt doing as much work as i hoped, the main thing is that from my knowledge it doesnt work with spells that allow people to search for lands and put them on the battlefield, so with the exception of Rites of Flourishing its kind of a more unreliable version of Dictate of Kruphix

What about Collective Restraint over Propaganda? It would make the price 3 instead of 2 wouldn't it?

Benevolent Unicorn UNICOOOOORN! :D

Collective Restraint is one cmc more for an unreliably better card. Propaganda should work fine, in most circumstances and is generally easier to obtain. Verdant Force might draw negative attention your way, but Benevolent Unicorn could actually be okay because it prolongs the game but doesn't really upset anyone.

Yeah I'll definitely look for a place for Benevolent Unicorn, its effect is good and it's a FREAKING UNICORN

Ok, so some updates on play testing: I have gotten 2nd in the two games I've played the deck, but in the second game, two guys forfeited, which caused me to have to face a guy before I was stable (one guy destroyed all lands, which ruined me because my cards are all XU cards or XUU to finish). I did get to ult Jace Beleren, which was fun, but I lost when he was at 27 cards. Job almost complete had everyone not dropped.

Overall, though, pretty decent success given that I haven't played against a deck that wasn't running the absolute best cards in commander. As you said, most people tend to like the hippo, and they reap the benefits he provides.

Awesome! Too bad that a lot of people tend to play decks that aren't that fun... But it's good that they liked the deck, it definitely gets a lot more ridiculous depending on how long the game goes (especially when people DON'T run cards that destroy all lands lol)

Haha! I was playing online, so people have access to any card they want. The games were super fun, though, and I feel like people really enjoyed the group hug aspect of the deck. It's definitely a slow deck, but by keeping things in balance you can outlast everyone else. It takes a lot of skill to command, actually, but it is really great. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/27-01-15-how-to-have-fun-in-edh-phelddagrif-surprise-co/

Thanks I really appreciate the feedback, it's awesome to think that I actually made a deck that other people find worth playing lol

Yeah it really does require a lot more skill than most decks, as you're not only trying to survive, but you're also balancing the influence you have on everyone else that is playing, and sometimes that can be really difficult. It's totally worth it though!

Haha! I know the feels there, friend. I've had one deck hit the 10-point score, and it was primarily because I took 2nd at my local FNM that people even looked at it. But honestly, kudos on this build. I'm going to continue tinkering with it and see where it goes. Whispersilk Cloak might end up making the cut for that moment when you need to deal 21 commander damage and quick in tandem with Strength of Cedars. Unblockable hexproof for 21 is pretty great. It also looks more like you're just trying to give your creature hexproof.

Though I guess shroud would ruin it. Forgot it was shroud. Can you target your own creature if it has shroud?

poorpinkus says... #16

Naw you can't, you could use something like Glaring Spotlight though, its effect is really good, you can make it seem like you just want to be able to control things if they get out of hand and it has the ability to give all of your creatures hexproof/unblockable

Ah, good suggestion. And I already own one, so that's beautiful. :)

Wow, I don't know what happened in the last few hours but the deck went from 19 +1's to 22, thanks everyone!

I'm impressed by the finesse of your deck's strategy. Your deck description is very interesting. I don't play edh but I always play multiplayer casual with my friends. I'm tempted to build something similar with a normal 60 cards deck. :) +1

Thanks, I appreciate that you like it! If you ever make it on tappedout you should link it to me, I'd be interested in seeing it

If you get an extra $11, Mikokoro, Center of the Sea would be a great utility land for this deck.

yeah sure, I wasn't going to add it before because of the cost but the deck is still not too bad for price anyways

I just saw your updates. For me, I want to leave Braids, Conjurer Adept in for flavor, to give the deck some other friendliness aside from draw. But I understand the swap. Great call on adding Arcane Lighthouse. Forgot about it. Another thing you might consider are Terramorphic Expanse, Bant Panorama, or Evolving Wilds since you are running so little white. It could help when you're trying to get out Feldy.
