Destroy666 are you asking for what i would replace if i didnt have a budget in general? Or just lands? If we are just talking about lands Bant Panorama, Evolving Wilds and Treva's Ruins would be the first to go

I'm asking what you'd cut for a Flooded Strand and/or a Prairie Stream (and for Canopy Vista and/or Windswept Heath too, in case-as they're the only over-budget lands I have).I'm also uber-green to the format, that's why I'd go 100/100 atm.

Destroy666 Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Bant Panorama and Treva's Ruins are all much less powerful than the lands you said, so I'd say remove them to replace with your lands. It's important to keep basic lands in this deck as there is so much basic land search

Huppster05 I don't think there are enough counters in the deck that it would be useful, and it would be pretty suspicious if i played it as well

Hey, poorpinkus. It's been awhile since I had looked at this deck because I stopped playing EDH for a bit (I began focusing on Modern). In the past week or so, I've been working on crafting my own version of the deck, and I was wondering what you think about some of my card choices.
I cut out Heartbeat of Spring because it seemed a way to easily let opponents with infinite combos kill you early, and I replaced it with Jace Beleren (my version is a little less budget, but fairly reasonable on the wallet: $200-ish).
I also added in more answers to troublesome spells in the form of Beast Within and Pact of Negation. I haven't gotten to cast Beast Within yet, but Pact of Negation has done a lot of work, often numerous times in a game. A recent edit I made was to swap Illusionist's Bracers (only really useful in the early game IMO) for Austere Command to stop the guy who runs a thousand artifacts or enchantments in an endeavor to blow up all the lands before it happens.
I also never liked Sheltering Ancient, but Brooding Saurian looks like a great inclusion. I swapped out Kami of the Crescent Moon for Dakra Mystic, which plays better with Solitary Confinement and gives you the ability to prevent terrible spells from resolving.
Fog and Holy Day seem subpar to me. Maybe Cyclonic Rift and AEtherspouts would be better? I understand that Spouts might make a player feel targeted, but it's all in the name of keeping a balance of power. I've also considered Worldpurge recently as a solid answer to horrific board states.
Also, why the removal of Fascination? Simply too much mill?
These are just some of my thoughts on both your deck and mind jumbled into one comment, so I hope it's organized enough to be comprehensible. Thanks, man!

buildingadeck thanks for the input! it's been a while since I've looked all that much at this deck and I decided to remove some of the cards that caused people to dislike my playstyle. Fascination specifically I was a bit iffy about because it has the ability to mill, and I already have enough draw x cards that I can win with them. I wasn't all too sure about Fog and Holy Day but I knew I wanted to take out some cards like Jester's Mask, I'll definitely put in AEtherspouts because it lets me protect a player, and Cyclonic Rift is a great board resetting spell, although I might put in something like Devastation Tide or Displacement Wave instead so that it doesn't put me in the "bad guy" position, I'm starting to lean towards aiming to come second and possibly first rather than coming first every game because my playgroup has gotten to the point that if I bring out this deck they just assume I am going to win.
Dakra Mystic sounds like a good replacement for Kami, it's also good that I can choose when and if people draw their cards
Sheltering Ancient honestly could go, it usually ends up backfiring on me unless I have a vow, and if I do people complain that I am teaming with somebody.
My main reasoning for not including pact or beast within was the price tag, I get that beast within isn't all that much, so I might include it, but I wanted this deck to be as budget as possible... meh I'll put beast in, but pact is a bit out of my price range
Anyways, your deck looks pretty sweet, like if I wasn't limiting mine to a budget, nice job!
Thanks for your input! You've been extremely helpful with this deck, good luck with yours!

Sorry just noticed I didn't mention Illusionist's Bracers
Illusionist's Bracers really doesn't do much but I always found it funny with Phelddagrif, and it can be quite powerful as it tends to discourage people from attacking you later game since you can just fill up everyone else's board with hippos

I can see you having fun with Akroan Horse, giving it to an opponent and then just giving them hippos every turn to keep them happy.

azure1659 I think the card is awesome, but I don't think it has enough impact to have a significant effect on the game, like, when you think of how long a round tends to last getting a 1/1 each round isn't all that amazing

Hey, I recently decided to replace Beast Within with Council's Judgment. I thought I would inform you because I think it's a better card, and it contributes to the sense of helping the whole group since everyone gets a vote.

buildingadeck It definitely is better, but it is also a bit out of my budget range, beast within was kind of cutting it close anyways, thanks for letting me know though!

poorpinkus: Yeah, I thought it might fall outside the budget for the deck, but I figured I'd toss it out there anyway. It's a pretty sweet card, and I look forward to testing with it.

Eye of the Storm + Day's Undoing = Shenanigans

Eye of the Storm is a chaos card, not a hug card. It would cause people to aim their hate toward you, which is not what you want in the Hugs deck.

Oh i know, it was more of an observation because both have been suggested in this deck, and could be silly. I a deck very similar to this and I've retooled it back and forth from complete chaos and full hug. chaos is fun for a game or two a month, but it's a bit much

SkylordAleksander have you ever seen Eye of the Storm with Cultural Exchange? It's cray cray

I didn't even think of that! and Cultural Exchange is one of my favorite cards in group hug. Give one person who has gotten wrecked a bunch of hippos, then exchange them with all the big stompy dragons someone who is dominating the game has. Hilarious.

Cybersix it is definitely on theme, but it's not the greatest in multiplayer since it is a sorcery, so it'd be difficult to use it effectively. I really like the flavour of it though!

Thanks for sharing this deck. I recently got interested in building a Phelddagrif deck and really wanted to go a similar route as you (being an actual nice guy, not masquerading as one so I can get a cheap win). I appreciate the deep level of analysis on this page. I can't wait to finish building mine and play some games with it.

vaerth Thanks! I appreciate the feedback, I always wanted to make a deck that was based on helping people, but still had a possible win condition, and I think this deck works the best in both respects for what I have found.
Anyways, I hope you have fun with the deck!
