Apostle's Blessing is a handy card to use against anything that that goes after the most important link in this deck, the Torpor Orb. That and Not of This World would give you great protection.

Do you think Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas would be a suitable replacement for the Dark Confidant as a 2 of in the board along with 2 Surgical Extraction?

I am trying to build this deck but Bob is too much of an investment for me atm. Tezzeret is pretty awesome as an alt win condition and a tutor. he can get 26% of the deck as is. He also doubles over as an Essence Harvest for artifacts and you can turn your orbs/ lightning grieves into beat sticks in the late game for little cost.

Thoughts?

Also thinking about Trickbind. that split second is harder to counter and makes the combo harder to disrupt.

Vision Charm is another budget way to counter the ETB effects. Illusionary Mask is a more expensive way to do it.

Well, Tezzeret would be fine against 1 bolt if you plussed him.

I think it would be worth splashing white to play Hushwing Gryff so that you can have a more consistant Torpor Orb effect.

I really dont see it being too viable.. its 3 to cast, no direct damage, no control tactic, and easily targeted by red/black/white removal.. I would say yes, only if this were a modern deck without ponder and dark ritual.

Any thoughts of adding Manifest effects to the deck?

@ Qozux
You know i just saw this mechanic and i was thinking that it might be really cool.. need to learn more about it in legacy formats though as i havent played with it.

Write into Being was one i was considering

I would also lean heavily on Cloudform for the evasion and hexproof.

Manifest seems to be a bit to random for this kind of deck. Illusionary Mask on the other hand would be perfect.

Would anyone ever use Illusionary Mask for more than 0?

You actually need to spend, at a minimum, the casting cost of the creature. From the Oracle text:

Both the amount and types of mana you spend on X are taken into account while you're choosing a creature card from your hand. For example, if you spent UU on X, you can choose a creature card with mana cost UU, 1U, 2, or W/UW/U, among other possibilities, but not one that costs 2U or one that costs G.

What do you think of the new manifest cards like Cloudform and Lightform? Stuff like Brainstorm and Preordain could help ensure you hit one of your creatures and you could possibly have a hexproof, flying, trampling Phyrexian Dreadnought

@joekeny these are good recommendation. Im actually currently testing a modern version of this deck that relies on manifest. Im running dreadnought, hunted horror, and confidant. So far its been doing pretty well. Im also running Waste Not and Dark Deal alongside a few other discards... Im mainboarding 4x Liliana Vess for HUGE combo power with manifest and waste not.. so far pretty great.. ill put up the deck soon

This is Legacy correct? Why do you have darkslick shores, drowned catacomb and watery grave when you have access to Underground Sea. I would put 4 seas and probably 8 blue fetches.

Well then be prepared to lose games to people with a more effcient manabase. That said, I'd take a look at some legacy stiflenought lists, as this is a real legacy deck that does what you're doing, but does it a lot better.

Sooooo, I made this deck and it does not make friends. That is all.

And good work by the way for coming up with and sharing your idea

July 9, 2015 6:07 p.m.

Chronoloco yes you are 100% correct about the lands. This deck is based on what i actually own. I dont think i can justify spending an arm and a leg for the real deal. But with that said- if i could it would be that much better.

So after looking at this and constructing it i added a few things and took a legacy tournament pretty easily. The mana base was fine actually, while there were situations that i wished i had the older lands the newer lands and fetches made it pretty easy to stay ahead. Mana wanst an issue when i could keep my opponent defensive having to use mana on thier main phase when i would counter. Disdainful stroke is a life saver post board tbh
