This is supposed to be a more straightforward deck than some of the others I have. Ideally, each card either abuses or benefits from some aspect of Phage, albeit not in an entirely visible way.

Phage can be cast in several different ways:

• Torpor Orb to stop Phage's enter-the-battlefield trigger
• Command Tower to get her from your command zone into your hand
• Sundial of the Infinite to respond to Phage's etb trigger by ending your turn
• A counterspell like Withering Boon or thrull prince to counter Phage as you cast her from your command zone, then a graveyard recursion effect like Disturbed Burial to return her to hand

The rest of the deck is built as support, and is weak in 1v1 interactions.

Creatures:The big beaters are Leveler , Hunted Horror , and Eater of Days . These guys work best with Torpor Orb on the field, but I guess you can cast them in a "fair" manner if you felt like it.

Instants/Sorceries:These spells cover counterspells to enable Phage, board wipes, spot removal, graveyard recursion, and tutor effects. This deck has a hard time drawing cards, so tutors are very important early-, mid-, and late-game.

Lands:Standard mono-black, trying to ramp as fast as possible. Some cards like Korlash, Heir to Blackblade , Magus of the Coffers, and Bubbling Muck care about swamps, so I try not to run too many nonbasics.

Enchantments:These tend to be the draw effects of the deck. Sign in Blood is good, but Phage really needs repeating draw effects to gain critical mass.

Artifacts:I think this is where the deck needs some help. Most are either mana ramp or ways to make Phage swat better at opponents, and some are there as placeholders for better effects. I'm not sure what these effects are, so suggestions are appreciated.

So far, my MVPs have been Korlash, Heir to Blackblade and Burnished Hart, Phyrexian Reclamation and Burnished Hart for recurring ramp, and Burnished Hart and Tragic Slip to give something -13/-13 for . Trading Post has also become indispensable since it can recur Torpor Orb or kill it if I have Endless Whispers on board.

Future plans for this deck include Gauntlet of Power, Cabal Coffers, Dauthi Embrace, Phyrexian Dreadnought , and more fast mana.
