This is a defensive lifegain deck I've been toying with. It comes in three components. The first are Defender creatures; the second is lifegain, primarily by exploiting Defender creatures (Perimeter Captain, Pride Guardian, etc). The third is win conditions which convert high life totals into damage (Wall of Limbs).

This deck, and indeed the entire Toughness Trilogy, was inspired by my coworkers. Whilst running a Sealed tournament, one of them played Grim Contest. They noticed that it was ass-backwards--"Damage equal to toughness???"--and promptly dubbed it "Butt Fight". Hearing about this at second hand, I began to toy with a deck that was drawn to big, juicy butts. As "Toughness Trilogy" implies, it's been a fruitful exploration; and my coworker pointed out that this deck in particular could actually be spun off with straight Lifelink creatures. But that wouldn't be as fun.

As always, I'm a budget builder, but for this deck particularly that came back to bite me in the, well, big juicy butt. The obvious missing card is Doran, the Siege Tower, but copies of that go for an average of $12. aAdding four of them would more than double the deck's monetary value. Having said that, this thing should still work pretty well even without him, especially with Wakestone Gargoyle on backup.
