MeagherMan101: The issue is that I want to load all the +1 counters onto a single creature -- particularly, Devoted Druid for the infinite combo. Renata forces me to put the +1 counters onto the tokens themselves, which isn't my goal here. But thank you for the suggestion!

If you are running Nature's Will, you might also want to take a look at Druids' Repository.

jakethewhale007: I considered it! But the goal here is actually to tap my opponents' lands AND untap -- the ability to lock down (some) interaction is critical.

Can i get some insight on the last changes? Having an eye on this list for quite a while now, but those last few changes seem odd to me. Most of those are cards, as far as i recall, have been previously in the deck and came out for one reason or another (besides Natures Will, don't remember that one). So why go back to those in specific? I am a huge fan of Harvest Season by the way, it is feeling great in my more budget Hapatra deck.

berndibend: Two general reasons -- 1) I'm playing in less of a cEDH meta right now, so the artifact stax isn't as critical, and 2) I want to regain some of the former fun aspects of this deck that I feel I've been missing.
I haven't enjoyed this list as much as I could for the last few months, so I'm testing some changes. Archfiend of Ifnir + Generous Patron is a better combo for what I need than Squirrelcraft, I think, and I want to try Nature's Will as a combination Silence/Sword of Feast and Famine. Evolutionary Leap got very very silly with Liliana's Standard Bearer's printing, and is a good way to recover after a boardwipe. And I really want to find a slot for Harvest Season, dammit XD

You pick up any nice foil box toppers for Hapatra? I picked up a Crop Rotation and Lightning Greaves since they're reasonably cheap. Wish I had the money for a foil Chrome Mox though.

OptimalGreen: I got a Crop Rotation box topper! It was one of the only ones which really... appealed to me, this time around. But it's very pretty :D

Nice. Also did you never add Misty Rainforest and Marsh Flats just to keep the number of basics up in the deck? Or was it just the price of the enemy colored fetches making you not want them?

OptimalGreen: Price, mostly. I do own a copy of each, but they're more critical in Kroxa and Vadrok where I care about colors a lot more.

Makes sense. Also if I remember correctly you used to have Survival of the Fittest in the deck? Ever putting that back in?

with the updated rules changes with Zendikar rising does it change the deck at all personally I haven't gotten a chance to review it yet

OptimalGreen: ...Maybe. Not sure yet.
TallKanz211: Which rules change are you talking about?
September 24, 2020 2:26 p.m.
OptimalGreen says... #15
I think they were talking about
"111.11 A new rule at the end of the token section to talk about tokens that enter the battlefield as a result of a copy of a permanent spell resolving, a new thing as of Zendikar Rising. Those tokens are not "created," so they won't interact with cards that care about creating a token."
That means almost nothing for Hapatra because why would you even copy snake tokens and also you don't run any token doubler or doubling season since like i've been telling people for three years now it's bad in hapatra.

OptimalGreen: Yeah, that rules change doesn't affect anything for Hapatra. I'm not running Lithoform Engine, the only card in my colors which can interact with that rule.

Hi there, big fan of your primer, build my very own Hapatra after this one. Still working on the foils though ;) Always liked your opinions on new sets, what about Zendikar? I bought a copy of Agadeems Awakening and will slot it in for a basic i think. Greetings

Hoerni: Thanks for the kind words! I'm happy my primer inspired you.
I'll be running both Agadeem's Awakening Flip and Turntimber Symbiosis Flip, but I need to figure out what to cut. I don't want to cut TOO many basics, because of Earthcraft.
September 30, 2020 5:35 p.m.
Maybe cut phyrexian reclamation for Agadeem's Awakening Flip? Both are recursion, similar cmc. Also having an extra land will give you a greater chance of not mulliganing a hand because of lack of lands.
September 30, 2020 11:16 p.m.
Thanks. I'm afraid of turntimber since I run dark confidant :)

What are your thoughts on the new Golgari flip land?
October 2, 2020 6:03 p.m.
Daedalus19876 says... #22
skeletonkey8: I don't think there IS a Pathway in Golgari colors? It's one of the missing color pairs. But when it's released in Kaldheim, I'll probably run it over a basic Swamp. I don't want to reduce my Forest count, because that's very important for Earthcraft.

how does Archfiend of Ifnir interact with your strategy? is it just when you have a big hand you get too discard?
November 30, 2020 1:40 p.m.
Daedalus19876 says... #24
skeletonkey8: It might get cut again, but the goal was to go infinite with Archfiend and Generous Patron. I can usually draw enough to discard from hand size, and if I can't, Archfiend always cycles itself :)

Hey my man, hope all is well with you in these crazy times?
Apologies if this has been asked before but how did Hooded Blightfang work out? And why the removal of Deathrite Shaman? Just not consistent enough?

Had it pointed out to me that Renata, Called to the Hunt is just another (sometimes better) Ivy Lane Denizen. Renata gives all creatures a +1/+1 counter on ETB not just Green creatures (Puppeteer Clique shenanigans?) thought it was worth pointing out.
